Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Clearly I'm not. You don't do well under pressure, do you?"

"Also it was dark. Then it wasn't."

 

"Uhh, uhm..." Abigail begins to crack under the pressure as she backs away.

A large blast of fire suddenly erupts around Abigail, completely surrounding her. After a moment, it clears; leaving nothing but a small pool of lava where Abigail once was. A few bubbles pop on it's surface.

"Looks like Abigail, hot footed it out of here." I say, finger-gunning yet another time.

 

"It was dark?"

 

"That's the Realm of Shadows for ya, you think we like it light?" I say.

"Last time I checked it was more twilight instead of dark." Artemis says to me, grinning.

"Well, yeah. It's not pitch black nor is it blindingly light. We do need to see you know." I respond.

 

"Makes sense. I thought dark creatures like you would be able to see without light though."

 

"We can, but it's easier to have a realm where we don't need to. We may be seen as genocidal demons, but we're not idiotic," I say, "As much as we have the ability to see in pitch blackness, having to tell where someone is by their eyes can be a little awkward if you have to live with it."

Artemis looks over at Abigail's lava pool with concern.

 

"...Did she just kill herself?"

 

"No, she's just absconded. I sense her deep below the ground, probably hiding." Artemis says, her necklace glowing.

 

"She's horrible at hiding it. If she'd just admitted and apologized, I'd stop dogging her about it... assuming she was sincere."

 

"I was thinking along the same lines. He's probably exactly like his ancestors, anyway. They always are."

 

"I understand why she's afraid, considering, well," She gestures to Rineth, "All of you. Having a huge dragon looming over you isn't the most calming experience."

I cautiously dip my hand in the lava, before pulling it out quickly, shaking it.

"No way I can get to her without some protection against the effects of the lava." I say, staring at the pool.

 

"Hey, is there any ways you can tell Yhrey where to meet back up with his friend? Better question, is there any way we can keep tabs on that rider? He threatened me if we cross again, and I don't know if I want to burn my energy killing him."

"It's not, but when you call a huge dragon offensive things, it's never the most calming experience. Especially when said dragon is extremely old."

 

"Exactly, and she found herself facing something she stood no chance against; which is why she escaped while she could." Artemis says.

"You think she's alright?" I say, looking at Artemis.

"Her life seems to be fine, and she doesn't seem to be showing any signs of abnormality," Artemis says, holding a hand to her head, "She's just hiding."

 

"I'd show mercy if she was to blame. My job doesn't make me the most subtle creature, and my size makes me rather noticeable."

 

"Is it weird I'm the opposite of that?" I say.

"That's kind of you, but I don't think Abigail will be coming out of hiding anytime soon. It's probably best to leave her be." Artemis says calmly.

"Abigail! Hey Abigail I need to talk to you! Give me your resistance to fire so I can come see you!" I shout into the pool of lava.

"I don't think she can hear you, considering how deep she is." Artemis says with a slightly exhausted tone.

"Worth a shot, I guess." I say, walking over to Artemis.

 

"I've tried tracking Uthrail and his descendants for ages. They just kind of... slip away from me. I'll tell Yhrey to go back to the outskirts of Solignis, though."

 

"Do as you wish." He mumbles.

"Sounds like more ways for me to work off the troubles I've caused."
I check to see if the other dragon is still near me.

 

Artemis places her hands on her head and focuses, her necklace glowing brightly. Artemis opens a telepathic link between Abigail and herself, and lets Rineth hear what is said; while trying her best to cover his presence.

"Abigail, it's fine. Rineth isn't going to kill you." She says telepathically.

"Yeah, sure. Not like he was preparing to bite off my head and tear my body open." Abigail responds.

"He wasn't! He said he'd offer you mercy if you told the truth." Artemis says.

"Yeah, well I think I'm going to act on my hunch that he's out for revenge about what I said." Abigail replies.

"He's not trying to kill you, he just wants you to admit what you said!" Artemis says, getting a little frustrated.

"And then I do, and we all have a laugh about it before he bites me in half and steals my soul." Abigail says.

I empower Artemis as she speaks telepathically.

"Hey Abigail!" I say, using Artemis' telepathy.

"What?" Abigail asks.

"Can you give Artemis and I that fire protection so we can talk in person? It'd probably be easier for you, plus...I don't think this is all too private." I say.

"...Alright; but make sure it's just you two. I don't want Rineth busting through a wall to kill me." She says, cutting the link.

 

"Because me digging is going to be subtle until I barge through the wall." He mumbles.

 

"Right..."

The dragon is still flying above you.
