Don't do the corner sun or that cloud. That's what makes it look like a child background.

Also try not to outline the background so that your character's head pops out more.

EDIT: Also make your outlines not as big.

 

What program did you use ? I can give some advice depending of it.

 

I couldn't think of anything else to use as the background xD ty
