Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I go up to where Artemis is on Rineth and sit on her left. I casually put my arm around her neck, and smile at her.

 

Artemis looks to you, clearly shaken and tearful. She suddenly hugs you, scared.

Artemis pulls away after a moment, "There's...something not right...something not right about you..." She says, narrowing her eyes.

As Artemis reaches to move your arm from her neck, she stops suddenly, giving a shocked expression, "Wh-What are you?" She says, her fear growing even more.

 

I quickly take my arm off of Artemis, then look at AJ in an expression that says, "F*ck"

I look at Artemis and shrug, "People have categorized me as different things. But I guess if you really wanted to know you... can... rip me apart..."
I say, dejected.

 

"Y-yes, it fled north..."

"Do your followers have even more tricks up their sleeves?" Xephyr comments, glancing behind her.

After an uproar, two hands remain as the soldiers talk things out.

You recognize both; neither are on brilliant terms with you as far as loyalty goes.
One has only spoke of continuing fortifications, and the other seeks expansion of the stronghold.

"Yeah, we can land. Artemis, close your eyes."
Ihra wraps vines around Rineth and Artemis, trying to make sure she doesn't fall off.

Rineth starts his descent.

 

I create an illusion of humanity about 13 (hopefully Artemis isn't actually sensing his mechanical innards and is just seeing the cameras in his eyes.... or maybe just noticed he didn't have a heartbeat?)
OOC: fyi @Enhanced_Human Luphyx knew you weren't human, he just figured you had empathy for other 'people.' (see: cannibalism)

"Ah I see, it is you...uhm...friends...anyways, I see you both have the keenest interest in growing the stronghold, one in defense, and one literally. These are noble causes, indeed. Do not, however, get the wrong idea my fellow men, but might I ask to all of you, are there anymore volunteers?"

OOC: kk, btw can I know how these two guys are on terms with each other? Like, are they friends, enemies, etc?

"Hmm, very well. That's actually good. The choices have already been narrowed down. Now then, Sir Joshua and Sir Harold, I know that recently, there have been some...questionable events, however, I would like to put that behind me to make an unbiased descision. First and foremost, I want the crowd to please spread out so that Sir Joshua and Sir Harold have a nice, large open space"

 

OOC: They're completely neutral to each other. They don't know each other well, but they've heard each other's opinions in the past; frankly, neither cares about the other for the good or the bad.
In short, they're aware of each other's existence and respect that. They're on neutral terms otherwise.

The two move slightly closer together, noticing the widening gap. They nod and look slightly guilty as you say "questionable," but otherwise keep their composure.

 

"Good, now I want you both to draw swords, however, do not engage with each other. This is merely a test." I steal one of Riihs's abilities.

 

You steal... true sight.

They obey orders, both looking each other somewhat awkwardly; neither know what's coming.

You do, however, sense a crossbow in someone's hand on Sir Joshua's side of the crowd.
You can also sense Riihs turning to you, looking at you patiently.

 

"Sir Joshua, Sir Harold, DUCK!" I shout as fast as possible and draw my sword, running towards the crossbow.

 

The crowd parts as you run at the soldier, who gets trampled in the crowd.

The two knights in the clearing follow orders, but get up and look towards you as you get on top of the one who may have been about to draw.

 

I point my sword at the knight who might have been about to shoot. "What is the meaning of this?! Tell me your intentions! I...had a feeling you were drawing your crossbow..."

 

He bites his lip before his confession.
"I was going to kill Joshua... his desires are unnecessary! We wouldn't have lasted as long as we have if we needed more fortifications!"

 

I ponder for a short moment, before replying "Knight, though you may have a true point in logic, what you were about to do was certainly unjust. Why would you have killed, when you could've simply kept your thoughts to yourself?" I look at the other guards. "Guards, please take this man to a holding cell. However, do not do anything to him. He is not a prisoner. He deserves a fair trial...by the new captain of the guard, of course." I get up from the knight and look at Joshua and Harold, before approaching them and whispering to them "The both of you may not like each other, however, I have come to a conclusion."

 

He's dragged off.


They turn to you, waiting expectantly.

...as well as everyone else looking at you because they're not really doing anything else at the moment.

 

I whisper to Joshua and Harold "How would the both of you like to be...co-captains? Alternating command each day..."

 

"I would fear foreign history would repeat itself and we'd fall into a power struggle."
"I think it could work. We're the only two who thought we were capable. If one of us isn't, we're trained to step down and listen up."
"Fair point. I guess we could give it a try."
"I like the idea."

 

"...wait a second..." I call over Riihs.
