Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"So...you're alright with the corpse thing?" I say, a dark aura appearing in front of me.

Artemis' eyes flash with bloodlust at the concept, "I'm ready to eat!" She says in a darker tone than usual.

 

"I can't remember where it-"

"There she is! TURN BACK!"
"No."

So, Ihra just cleaved five people in half in one swing of her axe.

"I don't want to watch, but I want to help."
Rineth manages to bury his face deeper.

 

"Very well. What do you want? Your brother isn't here, and this is the first time I've seen anything like you."

 

"Really? Hmm..."
She palms a crystal.
"You're even more disjointed from society than I thought. Everyone knows about us... most scared. Now, I'm going to tell you what's about to happen; another one like me is going to come, ward me off a bit because I'm going to let him look good, then he's going to tell you that I'm evil and you should help him kill me. Alternatively, I'll answer questions if you help me beat him back. Up to you, take his lies or take my answers. You have about three seconds to decide."

 

"Hmm, I guess halves will do; though I'm more used to more intact bodies."

I teleport over to one of the bodies and pick up its two halves, teleporting back to Artemis. I cut out a chunk of flesh and offer it to Artemis.

Artemis takes it and looks at it for a while, "Take a bite." I say. Artemis eventually bites into the flesh; tearing some off.

"It...tastes...pretty good actually." Artemis says, a little bit of blood dripping from her chin, "I was expecting worse."

"Excellent!" I say happily.

I grab another half of a body and slice it up; pushing it towards Artemis. My hands turn to claws as I begin biting and tearing away the the fresh corpse halves; making a bit of a mess. Artemis joins in, eating chunks of flesh.

The bodies are both barely recogniseable, despite us only starting a few moments ago.

 

Ihra gets sick, then proceeds to fall into the resulting hole.
Rineth looks at her awkwardly.

 

"I'll take my chances with those three seconds. I want to hear what he says, however, this does not mean I am trusting him. This merely means I still have to decide weather which one of you I should trust. Now, this is where I give you a choice. You can either tell me your name and why you want to trust you, or his name and why he wants me to think you're evil."

 

"Time's up."
She leaps into the sky, and another dragon-like being creates a meter-deep crater in the ground where she stood.
She launches several homing bolts of light at him, which he knocks to the ground with his hammer, careful not to damage the stronghold.
"Were you... talking with her?"
His robe and scales are a pure white color.

 

"Now, I want the both of you to stop and let us settle this in a civil matter. You with the white robe, stop attacking her. Now, the woman I was talking to, stop attacking him as well. I want you both to stop right now so i can figure out what is going on."

 

She lands, and both glare at each other.
"Slave." She barks.
"Turncoat." He growls.
They're on edge; if either makes a move, it's clear that the fight will resume.

 

"What... just happened?"

 

"Good. Now I want the both of you to keep your distances. But not too far. I want you both to explain why the both of you hate each other. Again, do not attack each other." I whisper to the other guards "You can go in the stronghold now. I'll stay here by myself. I can handle myself."

 

"We call it Reversion. If whoever was trying to force it upon me succeeded, I'd be under their control. Technically, it's a separate body. Each has its advantages and disadvantages... it's a long story. Longer than we have."
She looks at the rubble.
"Well... what's next?"

"She's turned."
"He's defying fate."
"She used to fight alongside me."
"He fights for a lost cause."
"She is not in control of her own mind."
"He became a puppet millennia ago."
"She cannot be saved."
"He should have died many battles ago."

 

"Mhm. Now, has it ever occuored to you both, the possibility that both of you are right? What if both of you are fighting for a lost cause? What if both of you became a puppet? What if both of you should have died many battles ago?"

 

I continue to tear away at the corpse, making myself rather bloodied.

Artemis notices Ihra, due to her slower pace of eating. "Is Ihra alright?" She asks with concern. Her mouth is covered in blood.

 

They both turn to you, then each other. This repeats several times.
"He could be right."
"What does he know?"
"You've been corrupted. I'm a soulless conduit. He has a point. What have we brought ourselves to?"
"You know what they say, Tirai."
"Come on, just listen to somebody else's reasoning!"
"Survival isn't pretty."

If there were any guards nearby, the following burst of energy guaranteed they were on the ground or behind cover.

You can see her feet and tail sticking out of the hole. Her screams are muffled.
Rineth pulls her out and puts his body between her vision and your feast.

I stay silent, but I cross my arms and wait for them to further talk it out.

 

Artemis turns to me, "Uh, Aj, I think I've had enough." She says with a slightly guilty tone.

I look to Artemis, my face and hands covered in blood. The corpse I was eating is almost completely gone.

"Ah good, seconds!" I say, pouncing on Artemis' pre-chopped corpse. Artemis falls back a little as blood sprays from the corpse in front of her.

Artemis' hands glow green as pairs of vine hands drag the remains of the other corpse underground.

After finishing our meals, we're both covered in blood. "I...don't think flesh is really for me." Artemis says, somewhat embarrassed; dispatching of what remains of the second corpse.

"That's fine, I wasn't expecting you to like it in the first place." I say, smiling at Artemis with a blood-stained face.

 

OOC: Burst of energy means explosion, which means they're fighting.

The field outside the stronghold walls are thoroughly ravaged at this point.
The guards behind you (all of them) have their crossbows pointed in their general direction.

"Mind the youth." Rineth grumbles. "Give her time to run."
You hear Ihra dry heaving.

 

"PUT DOWN YOUR CROSSBOWS YOU BLOODY FOOLS!" I then check to see if the two creatures are still there.
