As everyone knows, the % Boost by Skill Points is no longer linear thanks to the new system. I was curious and decided to plot out a graph/equation for the Skill Points vs % Boost. Here's the results:

First up, the data. I had to use a Skill Reset Scroll and recorded the stats one by one as I added Skill Points to them:

Thanks to @Nyam it was found to be a cubic function.

Here's the equation between the relationship of number of Skill Points vs % Boosted by Skill Points:

Let x = Number of Invested Skill Points
Let y = % Boosted by Skill Points

    You can simplify it into:

If you ever want to make a Skill Point setup for a build, feel free to use this equation to find out just how much Skill Points can get you. This should also work with Skill Points above 100 (boosted by gear), just substitute x for the number of Skill Points you have and your result would be very close to the percentage boosted by that number.

For example, I want to find out how much Mana Cost can be decreased by having 120 Intelligence. I sub x for 120:

    y = 72.4883 rounded to 1 decimal place = 72.5

If I have 120 Points invested into Intelligence, I would use 72.5% less mana than normal.

Shoutout to @Dacleos for getting me interested in finding the formula, as well as providing data for initial calculations, @Nyam for being awesome and showing that it was in fact a cubic function, not quadratic.

Remember that the max for skill points is 150 which equals 80%

But it isn't a quadratic, it's more like a cubic thingy if you graph some more points after 100

(Top line is cubic, the one that curves down is quadratic)

@Nyam was that on excel? I didn't find a cubic function on Excel so I dismissed it XD

    I'll update the thread, thanks!

Yes, I just got a bunch of values from people and let Excel make some trendlines for me
It might also be two quadratics which change at 100, that's also possible. It does seem to curve down slightly after 100 though, so it's not linear after 100 for sure

For an equation to be quadratic , the graph must have one maxima or minima
For an equation to be cubic, the graph must have one maxima and one minima
If the graph is limited within certain value of x and no maxima or minima is shown, you can only say it is an exponential function

Having no experience in Excel, I had to manually enter every value and selected a function from the list it gave me. According to Excel, quadratic was best fit.

I was shifting between the possibilities of rectangular parabolic function or cubic function, neither of which was on my Excel's list of functions. I had to go with the next best which was quadratic.

Might be my low understanding to fully operate Excel functions, but Nyam has already corrected me.

    You know there's sth wrong when you substitute x= 0 and y doesnt equal to 0 ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
No but seriously great work on trying to find the equation for skill points
However if there should not be any constants as y=0 when x=0

If you round 1043/10000 to 1 decimal place it becomes 0.1%, which is probably small enough that the admins decided to ignore it. What sense would it make for everyone to have 0.1% in every skill point at the start?

    Just a side note
y=x^3 is a cubic function but it has neither a maxima nor a minima :) It only has a point of inflexion

But normally speaking, a cubic function has 1 maxima and 1 minima

The xp needed to level up does not follow a formula, as it is set by Salted himself to fit the xp gained by quests and mobs at that level. He just manually put up a table with the xp values.
