Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Uh, the only thing here is Bowie. And lemme check if I have the braces.'

 

You do.
"Shoot. So, you can unlock anything that has a lock, but nobody's there. Except for your pet. Uhm... crap. I have no idea. I'll see if these tomes mention anything like this... You mind seeing if the stuff in your office works?"

 

"Ihra, can you hear me?" Artemis says telepathically, "Wherever you are, I need you to take Xephyr and get out of there; it's far too dangerous. I had a vision, you and Xephyr were fighting a beast of some kind; and losing."

"I bet she can't hear you." My voice echoes.

 

OOC: I dunno. I tried that idea once, but I wasn't a fan.

I'm a sucker for tradition; if you lose, the cutscene is you or someone else dying. Singular is quite optional.
I'm cruel when I'm tired.

You can hear her... and the others.
"She'll make it. The Prophecy cannot be fulfilled if she's incapable of defeating something that isn't immortal." Xephyr whispers.
"What are these voices in my head? They sound like people I know! Wait, who are you talking to?"
"Ihra's more of a two-way intercom at this point in life, you've been warned." Rineth mutters.

 

"I am the ghoOoOost of your...uh...sandwich! IiIiHrAaa! WhyYyYyY Diiid you eEeaaat mEeee" I say telepathically. Artemis shuts my connection off.

"Well, as long as she keeps safe...I'm still worried though." Artemis says telepathically, and nervously.

 

"Yeah, well... Her mother said the same thing when she cut down a few gods that mistook her for Nyre. Also, is AJ as young as Ihra?"

 

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY YOU LI-" Artemis cuts off my secondary line.

"His form, the actual Aj that is, is 16, Shadow Aj is much much older; somewhere in the 1000 year range," Artemis responds telepathically, "He's never told me the specific age, but Shadows don't age as normal beings do; they're supposedly immortal since none of them have died of old age yet."

"As old as he is, he still likes acting nearer to his form's age rather than his actual age; maybe he gets it from Aj." Artemis says.

Artemis holds me off as I try to connect to her telepathic line.

 

"Okay, I didn't know how your kind ages. Ihra's roughly seven millennia old, give or take a century or two. I don't know for sure, and I doubt I'd get a straight answer out of her..."

 

"I had no idea her kind lived that long," Artemis says, surprised, "Well, as long as she doesn't get hurt, I guess I'll be fine. I'm still a little worried though."

 

"It's like human years with three extra zeroes. Vei's seen over forty thousand years, and I'm one of two surviving ancients; just another of our terms for draconians who've kept themselves alive for over a hundred thousand years."
Xephyr pauses.
"Hurt isn't the issue, dead is. If hurt was ever an issue, we'd be dead long ago."

 

"Well... we have found signs of something. It could be nearby. I'm not sure though. Wait, there might be a survivor in the caves! Yes, that light could be a mining lamp. Let's go-"
I pause for a second.
"Run! The Feligstone Serpent is just inside the cave. We're actually looking at the inside of its mouth. And that glow... we need to get out of the valley before it bursts into flames."

 

"Aj, go help them!" Artemis says before severing the telepathic connection.

After a short moment, I appear in front of the Feligstone Serpent in a blast of darkness, Shadow Katana held in an attack position.

"Fly, you fools!" I shout turning around, before turning to face the large serpent "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" my voice booms.

 

What seems to be a shockwave of flame blasts outwards and up into the sky. None of the fire seems to burn.
Then you see a dozen flaming meteors spiralling down from the sky.

 

I ready Shadow Katana, a dark aura surrounds it. Shadow Katana's blade thickens and grows.

Dragon-like wings emerge from my back, and I start flying, Shadow Katana held ready.

"Come at me meteors!" I shout, slicing the air with Shadow Katana. It lets out a mighty shockwave that cuts through the air, slicing one of the meteors in half.

 

"Alright." Lazarus goes to his office.

 

Xephyr tosses a crystal deeper into the cave before both draconians bolt.
"Master, are there any side effects to attacking it?" Xephyr shouts.

"Ihra, he's being ridiculous. Help him."
*slam*
There's a giant barrier between the meteors and the ground.

Once you get there, the computer does indeed work. There's an internet connection, too.
"Any news? Do things work, or is everything out?"

 

The remaining meteors explode on the barrier.
When Xephyr throws the crystal, a rock seems to close over the entrance. The rock is a dull red which seems to glow faintly.
"Side effects? Do you mean like the Drakonshade's curse? No, it doesn't really. The Serpent relies on firepower and size alone. It doesn't need anything else to destroy... whole mountains I guess? I wondered why the Shrouded Peaks were shorter and had more cave-ins recently..."

 

I seem a little offended.

"I just wanted to help protect you..." I say in a slightly hurt tone.

Shadow Katana returns to normal; my wings disappear.

"I...don't think that rock is enough to stop that serpent." I say, looking at the rock.

I ready Shadow Katana, eyeing the rock.

 

"No, that wasn't Xephyr... that IS the Serpent."
The rock moves up. It seems that before, the Serpent's mouth was open.
Now, you can clearly see the outline of a wedge shaped head.
It starts moving out of the cave surprisingly quickly towards us.
"Now would be a good time to fly into the air. I'll try to hold it off until you get airborne AND away from it.
I throw a scythe of darkness at the Serpent.

 

I jump into a portal of darkness.

The portal disappears, then reappears above the serpent. I drop onto the serpent's head.

I point Shadow Katana down, and stab at the serpent's head. "DIE!" I scream.
