Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"It... hatched out of its outer shell. That dust is actually fragments of scales. And so much for avoiding the darkness... now it will try to follow us wherever we go."
I look in the direction it flew away in.
"And no, that shouldn't have happened. This hasn't happened before. I only know it because when they grow old, it is inevitable that they hatch. But the Void Palace stops the hatching, and they go insane because the... curse in their shell poisons them, and eventually kills them."

 

"So... You curse/poison them to control them?"

 

"No, it's a natural curse. They hatch or they die. They like to live in the Void. But if I let them out of the Void and they hatch... then this happens."

 

"So now what? They try to kill us?"

 

"It will try to kill us. The only thing I don't know is when. Oh yes, and it can see properly now that it's hatched. I don't even want to think about the damage it's going to try to deal... because the Drakonshade IS going to try to attack settlements."

"I might be able to stop it before it deals too much damage... but I have no idea how it got through the Void. I think it would be best if we go straight there. The direct route to the Void Palace is hidden in the Shrouded Peaks deep into the mazes inside the mountains. At least Ihra wasn't here when that thing hatched..."

 

"So they're dangerous and this one got out. Joy."

"Well, do we know what it takes to kill?" Riihs mutters.

 

"It takes a lot. I've seen the bravest and strongest find a portal to the area around the Void Palace, only to be destroyed by Drakonshades. And those hadn't even hatched. Drakonshades are weakened by light... but Purified Drakonshades might be unaffected. As I said, I haven't seen a Drakonshade hatch in this world before, hatch Pure. They don't like coming out of the Void, even if I summon them. And it was almost as if... someone else gained this Drakonshade's trust."

 

"Best case, Daras. Worst case, mistress Xlentia..."
"I don't think there is a 'best case' in this situation..."

 

Artemis walks over to the tree she'd only recently been reborn from, and sits under it; letting out a heavy sigh.

She decides to watch as the party deals with the odd dark being, having enough with beings of that type since the encounter that had almost killed her.

Artemis begins to hum an ancient, soothing lullaby to herself.

 

"Well, I'm going to go to the Shrouded Peaks and then the Void Palace."

 

"Alright." Lazarus tries again.

 

"Thirteen mentioned that people here were looking for you. Other than that, I'll be right behind you."

Kicking out rapidly sends out an uncontrolled blast forward. You find yourself on your back.

"Well, that's good, but... uh... you need help up?"

"Do not take my name in vain." A voice echoes telepathically.

 

Artemis stops humming for a moment.

"I can't hear you! You're not real!" She screams, covering her ears, "I won't let the voices get to me! I'm out of that void!"

Artemis tries to hum to herself again, trying to calm herself down.

 

"No, I'm fine!" He says as he accidentally throws himself forward a little bit.

 

"What? Are you crazy? Mistress can't use telepathy across..."
Xephyr turns pale.

"Seriously, I'll help you up if you need it..."
She snickers.

 

"You won't end up like her, you're completely normal Artemis." Artemis says to herself.

Artemis lies down at the base of her tree, staring up at the sunlight piercing through the leaves. She lets out a heavy sigh, looking over at my Shadow Crystal in her hand. Artemis seems a little mournful.

 

"Hey!" Xephyr looks bitter.

 

"Huh? Oh sorry, were you saying something?" Artemis says, lifting herself into a sitting position under her tree.

 

"Yeah, I think I need help..." Lazarus is confused why his real-life counterpart can't learn to ride a bicycle but he can use fusions between technology and magic in a few wrist/ankle bands that generates large amounts of force.

 

"Yeah... Mistress Xlentia cannot use telepathy across dimensions.

There's a deity in this world."

Vei rolls you back on your feet.
"We'll... uh... work on that next." She looks a bit sheepish.
