Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Not if I can help it."
A black orb absorbs the beam, firing it back at Gaia.

Another draconian steps out of a portal, closing it behind himself.
"Anything else you want to try?"
"Because"
"We're"
"ALL"
"Here!"

Ihra faints.

 

The beam hits Gaia, and a glow begins to surround her. Cracks begin to appear over her, letting out green light.

Gaia struggles, before finally exploding letting out a green blast of light. Two figures fall from where she once stood; Artemis and I. We're both unconscious.

Our bodies fall toward the ground.

 

"Uh... Well... Oh." Lazarus attempts to learn again.

 

I grab my broadsword and run towards Ihra, shielding her (or attempting to).

"WHO are you?" I say to the draconian, while still keeping my vision on any attacks that might come forth.

 

"Yes, let's go back to the Darklands. Who knows what could be happening there if things like that Wing Dragon are out here."

 

You're both forced awake. Ihra's standing behind another draconian in a grey robe.
Rineth's standing next to you.
"If we can hold out, we can buy Ihra time. If we can buy Ihra time, we can scatter them."

Ihra's horns are intensely glowing in their awkward neon colors.

"We are the Fragments of Decay. Feiha."
"Nyre."
"Lefalya."
"Tirion."

The dark orb moves to block another draconian's attack. They're knocked back, grey robe not picking up any dirt."
"Against a sleeping opponent? There's no joy in that kill. I'll give you a real fight..."

He shocks Ihra awake.
"Get the others up, now."
His halberd and lance cackle with electricity.

You make some more progress. You can turn while moving forward, but turning while backwards remains difficult. Ascending and descending continue to get easier, and you start to be able to hover while distracted (by Bowie giving you awkward looks).

"Maybe you could take me to a couple other places? I was hoping we cou- uh..."

You can see the green flash from near the coast.
"Well... that's a thing."

 

"I need you to trust me," I say with a serious tone, "I can buy us all the time we need, I just need to siphon a bit of the magic from Ihra's staff."

My eyes glow red slightly.

 

"I'm sorry,"
I look at the draconian then at Ihra.
"what others?"

 

"Try moving before you ask for more."
An illusion of Rineth rushes forward, a wall of dark energy rushing at the four draconians.

"The shadows." She mutters.

Tirion blocks most of Rineth's attack with the dark orb. Feiha and Lefalya charge your group, Feiha throwing her orbs out ahead of the two.

 

"I need to, to protect Ihra," I say, getting up, "Please, let me use some of the magic, I can get rid of these guys easily if you'd let me."

My eyes glow, and I look very serious. The crystal on Ihra's staff turns a dark red.

 

"You're already empowered!" Ihra yells impatiently.

Barriers get put up on both sides.

 

"Let's see what's happening."

 

I turn to the 4 draconians, "Quoting a comedy loving, fleshless undead, You're gonna have a bad time."

A blast of dark energy surrounds me, shooting towards the sky. It heads towards the sun, before finally...

The sun goes out, like a light being turned off. It plunges the entire world into complete darkness. The beam dissipates.

All that can be seen are 2, gigantic, glowing blood red eyes glaring down at the 4 draconians.

"I am the god of the Shadows, I am void incarnate, I am the eater of stars, destroyer of worlds. I am...YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE!" I boom in an intimidating voice.

Light magic seems to fail to cast, and magic in general appears to be a whole lot weaker.

Shadows begin to appear around me and the draconians, their blood red eyes glowing in the darkness being their only visual aspect. A cluster of Shadows appear around Ihra, Artemis and Rineth. While silent, they seem to want to take Ihra to safety.

I grab Tirion in one quick movement, my giant hand rupturing the earth a little where it hit.

"I'll pop your puny head like a grape!" I say squeezing the trapped draconian in my hand, letting out an unholy, ominous evil laugh that appears to shake the earth around me.

An army of Shadows begin to attack the remaining three draconians from all angles.

 

I try even harder to at least get the hang of it.

 

Xephyr gasps before jetting off ahead of you.
"The other four are there."
Everything goes dark.
"Oh no... please don't be mistress... PLEASE don't be mistress..."

"Void incarnate?" Tirion mutters through grit teeth.
"That's funny."

"Sounds"
"a lot"
"like the"
"four of us"

Tirion reappears elsewhere in the darkness. They all have unchecked movement in the dark.
Ihra stays in the Radiance, the only lingering light in the area.
"How many shields can you break?" She jeers.
"Better question... how fast can you go?"

Rineth and Riihs move faster. You feel yourself become almost weightless.

There are two more dark figures in the distance approaching.

The shadow army is little more than fodder for the dark orb and Nyre's bolts.

You get the hang of it... Nothing fast, but you've got movement down.
"Not bad, not bad. You're a fast learner, I'll give you that. Think you're ready to see how these can serve you in a fight?"

 

My red eyes disappear from the darkness, my body disappearing with it.

A single, gargantuan blood red eye appears overhead in the skies. It glares over the crowd.

An unholy, ear piercing, petrifying scream comes from nowhere.

Large, nearly indestructible hands come from the darkness and grab everyone, including Ihra, and hold them completely still; they grip more than the physical body, they grip the soul itself. More shadows begin to appear, merging into each other to become larger and more powerful.

Swords begin to slice through the darkness as the Shadows multiply. A group of Shadows ambush Nyre and start stabbing him from all angles, even from within.

Three gigantic Shadows burst from the ground holding dual greatswords.

The monstrous eye glares over the crowds, severely weakening those it directly stares at.

 

"This is one of the darknesses I sensed before... the first one actually. I'm not sure what it is, but it makes me uneasy. But anyway, let's see how this turns out. As for the other four..."
I get out a small stone figure of something with robes and a cloak.
Suddenly my voice is heard across the battlefield... in everyone's minds.
"I've flown across Brsingr, my own kingdom, got somebody out of prison, gone over the sea, fought a WIND DRAGON... and now this! I've never done so much travelling. Well, let's have some fun... I wonder-"
And then I'm surprised by an extremely loud screech coming from the east. Something dark is quickly approaching.
I whisper to Xephyr, "And that was the other darkness I was worrying about... great."

 

The four reform elsewhere in the darkness.
"Want our souls, fool?"
"I've got a recommendation."
"All our soulcores?"
"Seek our mistress."

Feiha wipes out every shadow with a single empowered orb.

You feel your energy being drained.
"To beat darkness, don't use darkness... especially LESSER darkness..."

"I need to stop them! What if they're performing the Ascension Ritual?! I'm sorry, I'll catch up with you after this!"

 

"Ok, I'll see what the darkness is."
The dark thing then flies straight overhead. It's a Drakonshade.
"How did THAT thing get here?! I keep them around the Void Palace, not near the Runetrel!"
The creature flies towards Ihra,
"Tupiq!" (Stop!)
The Drakonshade takes no notice. Except for the fact that it DOES stop in front of Ihra, hovering, and prepares to charge a breath attack.

 

A dark blue wave pulses from the giant eye. Everything seems to become much, much slower. The eye gazes over to Artemis, a dark beam erupting around her.

Her eyes begin to turn red, and she writhes in pain as darkness encompasses her whole body, lifting her from the ground slowly "AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!" She screams in torture.

2 Gargantuan beings crawl out from the Earth. They don't seem to be made of darkness, their bodies more shaded toward purple than black. They seem completely unaffected by any sort of magic, even the orbs. One holds an intimidatingly large gun-blade, while the other holds a mighty looking staff.
