Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"This girl is beginning to concern me more and more...I'm starting to consider putting her in some kind of stasis so she can't harm anyone..." Artemis says with a concerned tone.

"Because sealing away your problems in the hopes they won't bother you again is the best plan, Artemis" She continues in a darker tone.

I'm forced from Artemis' body, "If she subconsciously spreads plants what else could she be doing? She seems peaceful while she's asleep, maybe it's best to keep it that way..." Artemis says.

I look over to Rineth and Ihra.

 

"It's a defensive instinct. Plants will cover her, and if there's anyone nearby, try to grow over them to slow them down."

 

I glance at Artemis and grin.

"I think I should put you in some kind of stasis so you don't hurt anyone." I say, grinning madly.

Artemis raises her hand, and vines grab my limbs, holding me in place.

"You should be a comedian." Artemis says with an annoyed tone, "Maybe Ihra's a relative of some kind..."

After thinking for a moment, Artemis asks "Do you, by any chance, have a kind of ocean with humanoid creatures who ensnare people underwater; or steal belongings?"

 

"Her world has long been isolated, broken. The closest thing they have to an ocean is a portal forcibly drawing them ever closer to the Void."

 

In a tone that could be likened to drunkness, Lazarus says "Uhm, yeah, uhm, uh, HOW DOES THIS EVEN... WHAT?!"

 

Artemis seems a little shocked by this.

"Oooookaaaaay, do you know of any angelic beings who roam the skies?" Artemis asks, nodding to me.

Large angelic wings sprout from my back, and I begin to fly off the ground a little. Two sharp-looking boomerangs appear in my hand; they're coloured sky-blue and white.

 

"Magic is as complex as science. Yeah, it's weird if you come from the other branch. It's a different way to do things."

"Not native to her world. It's strictly draconians, hold The Hunters. I don't know how to describe them... primarily because extremely few creatures who see them are still alive. Vei's the only one I know."

 

"Where is Vei and the others? I don't sense them anymore." Artemis asks.

My wings disappear, and I de-summon Wind and Sky. "If they don't have Aqua or Aer, I very much doubt they'll have Terra or Ignis either; a simple relation to Vitae doesn't mean she's a Guardian." I say to Artemis.

 

"More importantly, are these time anomalies going to keep happening?! Is there a way to stop these things?!"

 

"There are a few things which it could be. But the unless something impossible happened, then there's only one creature that could be."
The thing continues to appear but disappear when looked at.
Is it just imagination or does the thing seem to be coming closer?
Suddenly, a tornado seems to... appear out of nowhere?! The wind also becomes a lot stronger, though the bracelets grant resistance to it. It doesn't seem like anyone could last long without something like the bracelets...

 

"They're doing their own thing."
Rineth looks at you awkwardly.
"What? Are you trying to find a reason to kill Ihra?"

"They're controlled by me. It's extremely hard to stop, you'd need a chronomancer to cancel the effect. Science can check basic magic, and magic can check basic science. In the end, each cancels itself out. As for the first question... that so-called 'time anomaly' was me escaping custody. Seems your society has quite the grudge against magic."

"What...? This is wearing on me, master... Not sure how long I can stay here..."

 

"No, it's just she shares traits with a Forest Guardian, I figured she might be one if you had the other Guardians in your world." Artemis says innocently.

"Why would we have a reason to want to kill Ihra? I don't think anyone wants to see her dead."

Artemis shifts awkwardly at this statement, almost like she's hiding something, "I'm sure you'd be quite enraged if you saw anything bad happen to Ihra...heh.." Artemis says, a touch of sorrow in her voice.

 

Rineth glares at Artemis.
"There are plenty who wish Ihra dead. Something tells me Artemis may be one of them."
His claws don a dull glow.

 

Artemis steps back in shock.

"Whoa whoa whoa, calm down! Artemis has pure intentions!"

"I'm not one who wishes it...but...I've seen the result of it happening."

 

"Must've been a pretty blank vision..." Rineth mumbles.
"There's more than one outcome. There always is. The end result I know won't change... but what happens due to it can."

 

"Well, yeah. I mean, I'd think people from your society would be a little prejudicial and think that science is inferior albiet we are admittedly too prejudicial"

 

"I...I know. I saw Ihra die, multiple times; the flower showed me. Some times it was closer to now, some times much later. Some times she was killed by an external force, others...by a friend. Yet every time, she was...erased. Like an artist tearing out a drawing he doesn't like, she just seemed to disappear from everyone’s minds. I don't know why I saw her die, but I almost feel as if I'm a part of something greater..." Artemis says sorrowfully.

"Try to get your mind off it Artemis, maybe there's a timeline where she doesn't die?"

Artemis turns to me, "Every vision...she died..."

 

"I cannot speak much for others, but my husband dove into technology a bit. I myself fail to understand science, but I won't blackmail it. Look at your island; it's thriving, isn't it? It's simply another solution to what the world puts in front of you, as far as I'm concerned. There will always be prejudice, but I cannot explain grey areas such as a society's opinion."
She causes the tomes behind her to gently illuminate the entire cave.
"Different methods, same result; large populations. You know how to control electricity through wires, I know how to control electricity through runes. You use it for light, I use magic for light."

Rineth looks at you both almost mournfully.
"We can only hope for time. Thing is... that's the same thing the prophet saw."

 

"Prophet?" Artemis asks.

"Was he blind?"

 

"I probably wouldn't hold a more neutral stance on magic if you didn't mess up the wall my favorite janitor just finished cleaning." Lazarus states. "I probably would have just dismissed magic forever... But when I found an intelligent being with magic, it, for some reason, changed my mind. On everything. I have no idea why, but I'm glad that it happened."
