why is jester so good if the set honus is counterinuitive?

 

Ill be honest, I don't feel like explaining this for the millionth time.
There may be a thread somewhere explaining how jester items work.

 

Etheral 1 le

 

Wearing 4 Jester accessories with max XP will give a total of 62% XP Bonus (33% x 4) - 70%

 

If you are wearing only ONE jester piece. The only time that your loot and xp come out to be positive is if both of the Loot/XP stats are above 25%
(1 piece set bonus = -25%)

If you are wearing TWO jester piece. The only time that your loot and XP come out to be positive is if the two pieces loot/XP adds together to be more than 45%

Same for 3 set pieces except the bonus is -70%

As long as each item has more than ~25 xp/loot it's a decent piece. That's why you see the huge drop off from things below and above that 25% range.

Another cool thing is that you get to have an extra ring slot which doesn't add or take away from the set bonus and is essentially a free loot/xp bonus of whatever stat that ring gives.

With good enough stats on jester items, the set bonus is negated and you also get extra xp and loot bonus from the set, plus the various buffs that are actually really freaking good for set items, going up to a total of 12 of each stat and 2/2 mana steal with all 4 items. Also, the second ring is not counted in the set, so you get your full xp and loot from it if you wear it along with the rest of the set. In addition, jester set also gives some nice buffs, as 300 spell damage is nothing to scoff at, and 2/3 of the set also gives you melee damage.
