Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I summoned him to protect Ihra after we were attacked by some Draconians," I say, "Knowing her importance, I figured it was imperative to give her strong protection. I guess that doesn't matter now, since she has such a high tier Shadow Dragon protecting her" I say, bowing once more.

"This area's dangerous," I say, "I don't want harm to come to Ihra, so I suggest we go somewhere more...protected."

 

"Yes, I have come from outside the Barrier. My kingdom is mainly plains, mountains to the north, swamps to the east, forests to the west and the sea to the south. The people I protect are very secretive but are friendly... mostly."

 

"Thank you for the consideration, but the measure was understandable. Ihra's always been scared of golems and machines, so pardon her bitterness."

He scans the area.
"There's not many good places to rest. I'd recommend moving a little closer to civilization, ambushes are less likely to occur near a tripwire that can call an army."

"So you hail from north of here? Are you the leader of your lands?" A small crowd forms, listening to your conversation.

 

Dark, dragon-like wings sprout from my back and open. "Shall we fly then?" I ask.

I de-summon the still-panicking Crystal Golem, instead summoning a much smaller clay Golem in my hands, which I give to Ihra. "Tell him to do something" I say to Ihra.

 

She drops it on Rineth, blinking to his tail.
"Getitawayy!!" She shrieks.
"Now now, Ihra... It's not going to hurt you."

"Consider giving up on the golem idea." He whispers, hoping Ihra won't hear.

 

I seem a little offended, de-summoning the now damaged clay Golem.

"Hmm...maybe if I were to..." I ponder to myself, giving Ihra an evil smile.

"So do you know of any cities or safer areas where people won't shine Laser Pointers at me?" I ask, "I don't want to see another one of those tentac- invisible monsters."

 

"I am Eras, God of Darkness. I watch over a kingdom called the Darklands. While you could call me the leader of that kingdom, the King is the main leader. Ever since I started the royal family, I have watched over both them and their kingdom and have given them advice while they have ruled the kingdom. And yes, that kingdom is to the north of here, on the mainland. By mainland, I mean a larger piece of land which more than one kingdom lives on."

 

"I don't know, I haven't been here before. In fact..."
He turns his head towards Ihra.
"You need to sleep for now."
His tail darts around Ihra's neck. He lifts her up and puts the now unconscious Ihra on his back.
"I haven't been alive until she brought me back just no. She saw me die, and she's... Not very willing to let go."
He looks back towards you.
"Don't tell her that you know that. That's what makes her special; she's effectively a necromancer."

Her eyes widen.
"You were the one who saved our goddess from the Lost Kingdom's onslaught..."
She gets on her knees, as do those behind her.
"Please, if there's any gesture of gratitude we can show you for saving our ancestors, we will do our best to see it through."

Seems like the whole town has questions now. You've got a relatively big crowd for the size of the town.

 

An image of Ihra hanging from a rope flashes in my mind as she's picked up by the tail. I shake it away immediately.

"It's probably a good thing I'm here then instead of the creator of these Gauntlets then," I say, staring at the wooden gauntlets and vine-sleeves, "She has a particular disdain for necromancers, and would most likely take no hesitation in taking you back to the grave."

"Though, you probably wouldn't be here if I wasn't here." I say.

"We should probably find some kind of city," I say, looking around, "Those invisible monsters where just the start of it, I'm sure more powerful ones are coming. I think Ihra's drawing them somehow."

 

"Her staff is the grave of five dimensions, she's been the longest surviving wielder of Miznyana, and she's still young. As for me, she would be present. I'm not real, more of a combination of her imagination and the staff's energies along with the part of my soul held within that crystal."
He looks back at Ihra.
"Though, she's still a healer above all else."

 

I stare at the crystal more intently now, the feeling of fear stirring even more.

"The magic to imagine something, and have it come to life is very ancient. Nobodies been able to do it on their own, it takes the entire lives of 10 people to even begin to create things from imagination," I say fearfully, "Your soul acted as a base to work from, but soul or not, that staff holds a lot of power."

I think about my encounter with Ihra's Mother earlier, then stare at the crystal. The fear grows, and I stumble back off the vine-hand supporting me, a look of sheer terror in my eyes.

 

OOC: The whole thing with Ihra being a necromancer is making me have even more ideas... luckily they are good ones and it is actually interesting how things are turning out. And also, rip Eras 2k16. Died by being asked so many questions that his mind shattered and he became one with the Yahya. And what is it with people giving themselves to Eras. He could practically create his own army at this rate- oh, nice idea... hehehe.

"I don't know what I would want to ask from such a peaceful kingdom. I would rather that I would just let this kingdom be as it is. And besides, it is a pleasure just to be in a kingdom like this. There are very few places still existing which haven't been altered from how they were originally made."

 

"She has been blessed with the most powerful staff her world can offer, but it comes with a curse: Death forces True Decay. There's no backing out of the deal."
Rineth catches you with his tail, placing you back on the vines.
"Don't fear it. Be glad it's not in the hands of our opposition."
He smiles faintly.
"She's our only hope. We can't fear her, we'll be destroyed. I understand your reaction, but she has a long life to live still. Forgive her for being naive, if you can."

"Thank you... Please, feel free to look in my house. I'm not sure it's the cleanest, but I don't doubt we'd welcome you almost anywhere here."
The crowd rises and disperses. You notice that the people have similar clothes, yet there's no signs of anything mass produced. The technology is vastly inferior to the Darklands, but the peace is almost impressive.

From the center of town, you see a park, a marketplace, the town hall, and three neighborhoods.

OOC: She's still a healer. The staff is much more powerful than she is.
Yeah, it's actually a major plot device.
It's called the Infinity Pylon for a reason.

 

OOC: WHAT THEY HAVE WORSE TECHNOLOGY THAN THE DARKLANDS?! The Darklands have very little technology XD. I guess the best technology the Darklands have is ships and smelted items. Oh, and the lamps they have. Then again, those are quite magical. In fact, the Darklands does have a bit of more modern technology, but all of it is magical. And yes, I know she's a healer. Remember that the Lost Kingdom is desolate except for the Birthlake which is full of life and very overgrown? Well, Daras is a necromancer too. It doesn't really change anything, but it does make things... interesting.

I go towards the town hall.

 

OOC: They have little magic. They've got bricklaying down, but seriously, there's not a lot of resources on a lone island.

As you approach, it looks kind of like a school. Entering, there's a billboard with a bunch of notes pinned on it as well as four offices off to each side of the main hall.

 

"I know, and she seems like a good soul, it's just..." I pause for a moment.

"That power...the power to make imagination real..." I struggle to find words.

A dark aura fills my hand, dissipating shortly and revealing a large white crystal. I hold the gem out in front of me, and place a hand on my head. Suddenly, the crystal enlarges into a thin screen, as an image appears.

A group of friends stand ready, 5 to be exact. A girl with green hair stands with a bow drawn, a boy in dark clothing holds a sword, ready to strike, another girl, this one dark haired stands atop a large, crystal Golem, a fireball in her hand and a staff in the other. Two figures are more recognisable than the others, they have the same dark skin as I. One appears to be a shadow of the girl atop the Golem, holding twin daggers in each hand. The other...

is myself.

The Crystal screen pans over to another recognisable figure, Ihra. The crystal in her staff glows a multitude of colours. Ihra swipes it and lets out a mighty wave.

The 5 friends attack, fireballs and arrows shot, Golem swinging and shadows lunging toward Ihra. As the wave hits them, loud screams are heard. Their skin is stripped away, then their skeleton, then...nothing.

Nothing remains of the friends, not even dust.

The screen shrinks back into its crystalline form, landing in my hand.

I fight back tears as I say "That power can bring far too much destruction. Even in the hands of the purest soul, one mistake and everything could just disappear; no trace left behind."

 

I go towards the nearest office.

 

Rineth looks at you grimly.
"I know how it is. I died in the gamble, it was previously in enemy hands. It... The world the battle was fought on is no more. That's where..."
"Don't remind me, I'll say it." I grumble.
"That's where my predecessor died."
"We were to buy the others enough time to kill the wielder and make off with the staff."
"They didn't escape in time to get to the rift out."
"We were torn apart by the other four, along with that world. The best thing we can do is put it in good hands, else it can..."
We both go silent.
"...If Ihra finds out, well... She's too young."
"Wake her up. We can't worry about this any more for now."

Rineth touches Ihra three times down the spine, and she jumps up, awake.
"Whatwasthatmomhelprinethareyoustillhere"
"Ihra, you're safe."

Inside, there's someone with papers pinned all over the walls. They glance up at you, then wave.

The papers are coated in numbers.

 

I stare at Ihra blankly for a few moments, then at the staff. The projection still hurts to think about.

"Are you ok Ihra?" I say a lighter tone, "You appear to be sleeping an awful lot."

I look back at Vesius, thinking about the tale I've been told...

 

I ask, "What are the papers on the wall?"

OOC: Well, they have enough technology to make paper at least.
