Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I stare at the locket intently, a look of light familiarity flashes across my face.

"I feel as if I've seen that locket, or at least something like it, before," I say, sure of it's familiarity "I can only think that locket was hexed or something, and when you grabbed it, it brought you here. I can only assume that the hex hadn't been on their for long, it was most likely put on their by the ambushers."

After thinking about it for a moment, I ask, "Was that crystal always cracked like that? Or was it whole when you got it from your late friend?"

 

"...No. It's... We all have one, except for Ihra. It's called a soulcore... The crack means no trace of him remains. That, or they broke it to erase him..."

 

"So, they infuse their soul into these lockets to render themselves immune to annihilation without destroying the lockets?" I ask. "What would "Erasure" feel like if yours broke then? Would your body wither away without a soul to host it?" I also ask, curious.

 

"No, we're created, not born."
I glance at Ihra.
"She doesn't need one to live."
I look at mine. It's brownish grey.
"We are not immune to our end with them. It was supposed to be a way to shut down rebellions with ease. It turned into one of the most corrupt things about The Hive."
I glare at you.
"Nobody feels erasure. You fall down on the spot, never to move again. Everything is gone; pulse, air, magic, blood..."
I rest my hand on the hilt of one of my blades.
"I don't intend to meet my end by you."

 

"So, instead of the locket being a part of you, you're simply an apparition created by the locket? You, in essence, are the locket?" I ask. "I have no intention of putting you in a state such as that," I say truthfully "When I kill, I make sure the victim is dead. Putting you in a state like that would be...immoral. If I understand correctly, you cannot move, yet you still exist within the world, in a sort of null state?"

I give Ihra a stare, my eyes visibly glowing red; then back at Vesius.

It's late for me, so I'm gonna go to bed. I'll be back tomorrow, however.

"No, it's simply another method to kill. The locket is part of me... It's the second fastest way we kill each other."

Ihra seems bored. As in she's curled up on the ground, asleep.

 

I make sure to stay near Ihra, eyeing AJ suspiciously.

 

"Don't worry," Vei reaches out to you telepathically.
"I've been watching, listening. Vesius' warning is enough. I'm not losing my daughter, not as lonng as I'm alive."

 

I respond telepathically.
"But what if it's not enough? Even though I haven't been in this world long, I happen to have experience in the way human or humanoid brains work, and this... thing has a very unpredictable pattern. Maybe it is enough. Maybe he won't attack again. But he's right. We don't know much about his species. We don't know the extent of what he can do, or what he might accidentally do. I personally, am not letting my guard down."

 

"You'rre right... I guess I cann't hide it, can I? Heh... I'm keeping ennough in me to end him... At all timmes..."

 

A figure shimmers into existence a few feet away, wearing a white robe with gold trim and a pointed wizard hat with matching colour, his back to the group.
"If we're all done here, I suggest we get going. Introductions, interruptions. I'm Luphyx. Time is of the essence."
I turn my head to look at the group, an aged eye peering, impatient.
"Daras has returned. It won't be long now before the world is again plunged into darkness."

 

"Yeah, well, I had a damnable idea should you choose to hear me out before you leave the sleeping youth lie out in the open alone."
I turn to you.
"I think we're going to need everything we can to repel what's to come. That being said... One, he should be left alone. He only moved because we agitated him. Two, there's another dark entity that's drawing nearer. It commands no light magic... Or should I say, she..."

 

I suddenly seem tense, as if something was about to happen. I then relax but still look troubled.
"Something dark is happening... I feel a powerful darkness... somewhere. I felt it just before I went through the storm, but it seems to be growing stronger... and now it seems to be less strong."

OOC: Since Eras is the God of Darkness, he sort of sensed Aj when he went through the rift. When Eras felt his dark power, that was when he possessed Vei. So yeah, Eras can basically sense darkness because he is connected to it, though he can't of course work out WHERE the darkness is.

 

OOC: Then you're going to sense a whole lot of it in the coming days...

"Forgive me, but I'd rather keep things outside the Storm Barrier, outside the Storm Barrier. My people are... well..."
She sighs.
"Rina's the only one with any training with weaponry. One soldier could kill most of the citizens, if not all."

 

"Have you heard of the draconians? Xephyr is one of them, and there are nine others. Some of them have been causing lots of trouble, especially in Brisingr."

 

"Not until now. She looks exhausted... ...Sorry, I know that's not the point. Are they a threat, or are some of them like Xephyr? Her loyalty seems unwaivering."

 

"Most of the ones I have seen are good. There are two I have seen which aren't, and according to Xephyr there are two draconians we haven't found yet who are likely going to be major threats."

 

"So six on four... At least the numbers are in your favor."
She looks around at the shrine.
"I'm especially fortunate that none of the four have attacked. I'm sorry that you're under fire from them."

 

"Why on Earth would you keep an 'Instant Kill Button' on you?" I ask, "That's idiotic, and why do you have it on display?" After I pause, I ask "I...don't mean to sound hostile, but 'Second' Fastest?"

I suddenly snap out of the trance I'm in

I zoom over to the white figure, so fast it's hard to see, and grab him by the neck "YOU!" I boom, "THOUGHT YOU COULD SNEAK UNDER MY VISION!?" I continue, tightening my grip and lifting them off the ground

"I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY THIS TIME, NOT AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE," I shout, tightening my grip even more, "PREPARE TO MEET YOUR END, DEMON!"

 

You suddenly realize that there is nothing in your hand. The figure is gone. Was it even there to begin with? Before you can fully process what has just happened, the figure is back, but this time, facing you head-on. You get a good look at him now, an old and bearded, but hardy wizard, holding a polaxe in an offensive grip... pointed directly at your chest. The hand is steady.
"I think that'll be enough for now, don't you? We have bigger problems, unless you'd like to become one, in which case I'd be just fine dealing with you here and now."
