It's a hypothesis, it's entire purpose is to be disproven. If it can't be disproven, it's not falsifiable, it's supernatural and not scientific and no one cares about that in science. If it theoretically *can* be disproven, but hasn't yet, it can be used with other 'not disproven yet' hypotheses to create a theory. Theories are conglomerations of facts (anything that can be observed) and hypotheses that explain how some broad thing happens in the universe. This does not mean that it's "probably not true" or "is going to be disproven". Three of the most well-known theories (Relativity, evolution by natural selection, and climate change) are most likely true. There is nothing that goes against it in the universe (despite what some people claim). Yes, the (flat) earth could just be accelerating up at 9 meters per second, but most likely we are a 3rd dimensional object in and interacting with a space-time fabric, as there is a lot of evidence to prove this, as opposed to us just trying to think how gravity would work on a flat earth.
