Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I chuckle.

"Been a while since I saw some real excitement. Might I have the pleasure of an introduction?"

 

A humanoid dragon with light blue scales and a teal robe pokes its head out of some nearby foliage.
"My name's Ihra! I haven't seen you before. Well... That's not saying much, but hi anyways!"
Her staff is as big as she is, if not slightly bigger. She literally fits in the brush without kneeling on the ground.

 

I bow (or rather, my clone does)
"Well met, Ihra. It is an honor of mine to have met the bearer of so much untapped magical power."
I teleport next to the clone, but I keep my body invisible (much as I can).
"I am Luphyx, the wizard of light. And this is..." I say gesturing to 13.
"Sorry, I don't recall your name?"

"Ok then. Of course I can manage that, and that wouldn't be that hard. At least, not with the power of the magic well."

 

"That's because I never told you it. And likewise on your side. My name's Thirteen, but,"
I look at Ihra, directing my speech to her.
"You already know that."
I continue smiling.

 

The two glance at each other as the hatchling rolls around in the grass.
"What magic well? Are you reliant on it? You've mentioned it a few times now."

"Nice to meet you! ... I think. What's 'untapped' mean?"
She quickly goes from cheery to confused.

"Yep! You're that Mecha who let me show off!"
She returns to being extremely cheery.
"Just curious, who were you running after?"

 

"No, I am not reliant on it. It only enhances my powers. As for what it is, that's another long story."

 

"It's ok. Everyone is worried when they leave the one place they know... just like..."
I don't finish the sentence. I carry on towards Fellak.

 

"Fair point, forgive me for asking."
The hatchling gnaws on the bark of a tree.

"...Forgive me for bringing it up."

"Master? I... uh... haven't shown myself to your people yet. I hope that's not too much of an issue..."

 

"Let me put it this way. All beings have some magical potential, even you," I say, turning to 13.
"Once awoken, it allows us to manipulate the magical aura around all things. It's like an invisible bed sheet covering the world, but only with magic can you change the sheets." I smirk at my own pun.
"Just as all people are different, all people have different magical potential. I once met a pair of twins where one twin could cure poisons, and the other could grow marigolds. But until your magic has unearthed its power, it's as if it's trapped in cubes of ice. Ihra, your magic has barely even begun to show itself, and look at what you can do! I can barely fathom what you might be capable of once you blossom into a beautiful, magical, flower."

 

"I like flowers!"
She taps her staff on the ground twice, and foliage begins rapidly growing around her.

It's... clearly evident she has a short attention span.

 

"Oh yes... I did bring it up with the King. He will have alerted the guards around the city by now. And I asked him to alert contacts from my cult. The people themselves may be wary, but as long as you stay near to me for now, you will be fine."

 

"Uh... Got it. Oh boy..."

"Are we close? I hate risking waiting..."

 

"Yes, we are getting closer to Fellak."
In the distance is a city with stone houses. There is a tall wall around the edge, with towers at four different gates, two of which we can see.
The houses inside are small and seem to sink into the ground slightly. The houses start to get taller and larger as they near the middle and eventually stop at several squares, including a large one with a bridge at the other side, which spans a waterless and rocky moat standing between an inner wall and the palace itself.
I start heading towards the larger square.
"We'll land here. Should we go straight to the King? Or should we look around the city?"

 

"Try the king. If anyone knows about new people going through a town, I'd hope it'd be him."
"I could introduce myself, maybe not be attacked if Master is busy and I come to rest."

Both start to descend slowly.

 

"Then once we land, we'll go across the bridge. The guards will still ask, even though you're with me, our business here, so I'll tell them parts of our business at least. Then we'll go straight to the King."
I also descend towards the square.

 

The guards watch Claire in fear, gaze shifting to Rina as she sends her back up to the clouds.
They get defensive when Xephyr lands.
"Yeah, they're suspicious."
"They better not have Aria locked up somewhere..."

 

"It's obvious you're aware of your magic, but do you understand it? To fully realize your potential, you must push past the boundaries that you face."
The flowers and vines around all begin to glow and shine, creating and eerie and beautiful light, as if the vines and flowers were radiating magical energy.
"But you still must keep a foot in the real world, or the magic will consume you. You would stop being you, and nothing but intense raw energy would remain, and with no vessel to contain, would be absorbed into the world."
I pick up a rock with my gauntlet between the forefinger and thumb. The rock becomes shiny and reflective, then starts to glow, then explodes into dust. The vines all around ripple in the shockwave.
"When a magician of incredible power comes to an end, it can be felt even through other worlds. It ripples the fabric of the universe like throwing a rock causes ripples in a pond."

 

"I can break rocks too!"
She slams her staff on the ground, launching a sizeable piece of rock rather high.

She crouches down, looking like she's going to bat it with her staff.

As she leaps, two huge axeheads materialize on the sides of the head of her staff. She cleaves the rock in half.

The staff reverts as she lands.

...She REALLY has a tiny attention span.

 

I teleport closer to the group and watch to see what they're doing.
