"Where did you last see her? Mother only recently was able to rest... She'll go in a frenzy if she finally gets a break and Aria... Just... Where was she?!"
Panic set in.

 

"The Watchers? They aim to crush us. We threw them into the earth ages ago. I'd assume they aren't very happy." He hesitates as you try to heal him. "And... Thank you. I suppose I should have asked your name sooner."

 

"Vesius. I'd ask yours, but clearly I'm not in position to do so."
I open the tome.
"Well, I take it these things gotta go... In a more permanent way."
I run at the Watcher(s), seeing if it reacts to my presence.

 

OCC: Also, I have zero problems with any Brisingr elements.

Frankly, I wish people would use them because it gives me more to work with.

 

OOC: single glove, just wanted to make sure there wasn't any confusion there.

It also might be best if 13 went back... there are multiple possible terrains he would be unable to make his way across/through (I'm assuming here that he can't run on water)
Also, having open cuts in a storm is like putting salt on a wound. Rust sucks.

That's my take on recent events. From what I can tell, there are 3 people in need of action: 13, Aforl, and Edicus.

Hmm... This gives me an idea for how/why I even have the gauntlet....

 

That means approval.
(I'd rather you be able to remove the distortion at will, not just when tired. Also, Ihra will love you, you've been warned)

Three of the closest ones get out of their slouching position and stand up tall, roughly eight feet up. They're entirely plated in a heavy stone, except for a circular openings on their chests and where their eyes should be.

Another Watcher notices and (slowly) starts to circle around you.

They speak, not with their mouths... It just kind of resonants from within them, deep and mocking. "You people really are dumb. Did the little elfie send you to kill us? Your no brained goddess? You the last one yet? I hope the next city has better "soldiers" than this..." The Watcher in the middle points one of his stony hands, which end in a sharp jagged point, at you.

A laugh echoes through the group, though it sounds broken and alien.

 

"Your challenge shall not go unanswered..."
Tome away, I already drew the glyph.
"...but can you answer mine?"
My rapier spins like a disc, glowing teal and black. I throw it at the one pointing something at me. It easily slices off the point and returns to my hand like a boomerang, still spinning.

"How am I supposed to beat a rock? If you tell me 'paper,' I'm sending Vei at you." I respond to your telepathy, a bit desperate.

 

"I mean, you do have a tome, you can always tear a page out... Aside from that, stab it through the holes in it's eyes and chest. It's fairly weak there.

The one you attacked looks unfazed, and a rock flies out of the ground to repair his arm. You only suceeded in annoying him.
"You'll get it now, little snake."

His eyesockets burn a golden color, and he slams his foot against the ground. The rocky ground begins shooting up toward the sky, like spikes. The ground keeps spiking, heading towards you fast.

 

I stand there, waiting.
"You're cute."

The spikes hit, kind of.
The closer they get, the spikes formed between the Watcher and I collapse to normal.

When they hit, I'm launched into the skies by a pillar of stone, crumbling once I'm airborne.

"You were saying?"
Another throw at the eyes of the one who triggered the spikes.

 

"Funny... Never seen a humanoid who can fly in the last millennia."

They wave an arm and a thick shield of rock surrounds their head.

OCC: Is cutting through rock an attribute of your sword? O.o

 

OOC: Just to clarify:
The distortion effect occurs around my body. I can't control light if it's too close to my body with very much control, so I can't get rid of the distortion. I almost never look directly at anyone, as I can just bend the light into my eyes. As a consequence, I usually don't even show my body to anyone, usually I just create an illusion-clone (not being me, does not waver), and sit off a ways away, watching. I can also bend light around my body, effectively making me invisible. To the naked eye, you'd still see a bit of mirage-type waviness where my body is, but no actual person there. However, all beings with decent enough magical power and/or strong enough alternate senses (i.e., if they can detect me with their eyes closed, they might just be confused by the illusion at best, as I will seem to be in multiple places simultaneously).

tl;dr: I won't waver because I'll be invisible most of the time, and the 'me' people will see will just be an illusion.

 

OOC: Aether Aspect is kind of misleading. It infuses my rapier (and only the rapier) with the Ethereal element, which makes it ignore physical armor or shields. Only energy stops it, which is convenient for... well... now. So it technically lets me cut through rock.

...Actually, I could just yell at it and it'd disintegrate. That'd be amusing right about now.

"Dragon, you stone-faced freak..."
I fly a bit higher, waiting for the blade to return to my hand.

The sword goes in his eye socket, and he falls, giving off an ear splitting howl.

A pain splits the back of your mind. "Mmm... Empathy link, sorry. I'll cut it off." I speak telepathically to you.

The other Watchers' eyes light up. "Brother! You will be avenged." The voice just echoes like always, there is no speaker. A spiked stone flies out of the ground and toward your blade, hoping to intercept it. More jagged stones fly towards you.

 

OOC: 13, Aforl, and Edicus all seem to be in need of some action; I could hop in there and liven things up a bit. That would rely on whoever whomever I end up near/with being online, however. I could also probably hop into something happening more actively (hmm... like right now....?)

 

The stone is shredded to dust by the blade as it returns to my hand. I juke a few other stones... but not quite all. I'm not knocked out of the sky, but I lose significant momentum.

I dive towards a second Watcher, teeth grit in pain.
"Avenged for what? Being evil? See how much I like that, will you?"

Blade held out forward. Diving straight for the head. Almost straight down.

@Enhanced_Human As you try to catch up with Eras, something catches your eye. You can't actually see it... but it's certainly distracting.

Oh, right - it's moving towards you.

 

"I just can't catch a goddamn break, can I."
I say, clearly annoyed.

I continue to run, but I slow my pace.
"Look, pal,"
I shout, referring to that something, presuming it can comprehend English.
"If you want to talk, run along, I got somewhere to be. If you want to fight, I'm really NOT up to it right now."

 

OOC: Erm... just in case... 'still seeing' means perceiving light, yes? Because if not... 13 would be able to perceive the oncoming possible threat easily.
The haziness you saw gaining ground toward you shimmers slightly, and an aged, bearded wizard wearing white robes with gold trim, a pointy hat, and a large, heavy-looking glove on his left hand appears, carrying a poleaxe like a staff.
"I have a meeting to get to, and introductions are incredibly obnoxious," he rumbles.
"Let's just cut to the chase. You're going to lead me to a being known as Daras, and if you protest, well..." I trail off
As I speak, something seems off about the way I speak.
"Agh, it's been so long since I've had to ask for something, how do I do this again?!" I grumble to myself.

 

"The people attacked us first. You're clearly no different from all of them."

The Watcher backs up. A jagged rock shoots up from the ground below you

 

"Yeah, actually, I am."
I raise up from the dive, beelining for the Watcher.
"Do the people do this?"

I open my mouth. It looks like I'm shouting with claws together like a drill in front of me.
As my mouth gets close to the Watcher, the part of its body in my path crumbles and I end up boring through, though as I come out the other side, I tumble to the ground.
"I... don't even know... who the elf is... Hell... I just found out... what an elf was... what a Watcher was... but I know one thing..."

The rapier returns to a normal state as it falls harmlessly to the ground.
"...If you're going to harm this world...
...
...Then I'm going to kill every one of you I find..."

I can't stand up.
