Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Xephyr uses her bracelets to get height, then glides behind you.

 

Well, darkness doesn't necessarily mean evil. But Eras basically named it that just because he was the God of Darkness.

After a while, I fly down to the ground.
"This should be far enough into No Mans Land. Maybe he's-"
I suddenly stop talking. Daras appears out of nowhere. His clothes seem a bit more worn than before.
"Thanks for the stray thoughts, Xephyr. Even you draconians don't seem to be able to control your own minds well enough to protect them from me entirely."
"Daras, don't start what you are going to try to. It will only end badly for yourself."
"Well, I heard that Nyre wants to kill me. Didn't you notice the tiny shift-clone I left behind? Or was hiding behind Yhrey too much for you?"
"I didn't, but I suspected you had. But I know you could start ANYTHING without joining with people like Nyre."
"Too kind!"
He turns to Xephyr.
"You know, I did break free a few... hundred monsters back when Eras still allowed Monster Arenas. Those were quite fun to watch, but that little incident sadly got me banished from the Darklands."
I chuckle slightly, which seems slightly innapropriate considering the possible danger of the situation.
"And by a six year old king, too... see, even six year old humans have enough sense."
"Does that mean that you didn't?"

 

"Master, I don't know what he's talking about.

...wait, is he...?"
She looks nervous and glances behind her.

 

"What is it?"

 

"I thought maybe he called a horde. Sorry..."

 

"I wouldn't... not yet anyway. And as for what I mean, I'm just talking about a bit of my past. I like it a lot. Another reason that Eras, surprisingly, is my opposite."
"Daras... you don't have to try to fight against me. I was wrong last time. I was angry with you. Yes, you had done wrong things. But you know that I wouldn't have done what I did unless I thought I had to..."
"I... I know that you want me to help you. It's just, I can't. We've become against each other, and now I can't go back."
"What if we remade the Lost Kingdom? I'm not sure any of my people would follow you now, but... I could at least fill your kingdom with some of my monsters. When you released those a long time ago, do you still wonder why I helped you? I realised that, even though I had the power to do almost anything, I shouldn't imprison them. They should be in the wild, like you helped them to be."
"I guess... I will think about this. Give me some time to think in the Lost Kingdom. Make sure nobody goes there, or I might fight against everyone again."
Daras then teleports away.
"It didn't go how I hoped... but if Nyre DOES try to go to the Lost Kingdom, at least the monsters in the Sea of the Lost can try to stop him. And at the kingdom itself, Daras knows every single place. He could hide long enough for me to help him, if he ever wants me to..."

 

"At least it wasn't escalating into combat...

Uh...

Erm...

...yet."
She seems alert.

 

"We should probably get out of here. Even No Mans Land is closer to Gargantuan than we probably should be right now." I start flying into the air.

 

"Uh... Okay."
She glides behind you.
"What's Gargantuan?"

 

"A kingdom to the north of this area, No Mans Land. They once attacked Emeraldonia and Brisingr, so Reflet hates them. Also, before we reached Brisingr, an army of Gargantuans... and others I did not recognise, though seemed strangely familiar, had heard about Nyre and instantly assumed that Vesius and Feiha, the draconians present at the time, were like Nyre. Of course Feiha was... but Vesius of course isn't."

 

"Quite the mess he's gotten himself into this time. Gotta admit, it's rivalling what his predecessor went through. Only difference is... Well... We know where he is."
She looks down.
"What do you do when you're not chasing a betrayer?"

 

"You happened!" A human- who's face is completely obscured by a mask- yells.
"As if you don't know!" A dark haired male guard yells.
The elf turns to face the squad behind him, and the guards fall silent. The elf's long hair seems to be a mixture of orange and red.
"Perhaps you should look behind you. Look closely."

 

I turn around, tail pointed forward.
"I'm not here to hurt anyone..."

 

"The damage was already dealt."

The plains extend for a long way shifting a field of black rocks jutting out of the ground. But they aren't rocks. They're like stone giants, moving extremely slowly towards the town.

"They're the Watchers. They woke up the day the one who looked like you began wreaking havoc. That's why it must have been your presence that awoke them. The ground has been shifting. Breaking apart and forming long crevices. Brisingr is destabilizing. And where all of the people went? They're either underground or running for their lives. The ones that run are cut down by the monsters who lie in wait on the far outskirts of the city. Now people are turning away from our goddess and fighting amongst themselves. You started this."

I reach out telepathically to you.
"There's no way Brisingr is breaking apart." I hiss "It's not possible."

A bang, and a crack opens up a few feet in front of you.

 

"I... I see how it is."
My blades phase back in their sheathes.
"Well... You running, or is this... Whatever that is... On your side?"
Green tome open, try to heal the elves' wounds. After one attempt, blue tome and rapier are in hand.

 

"Oh fer..."
I say to myself, clearly annoyed.

"Maybe some point in this journey I can find an engineer and a scientist. The only question from there is rockets or wings..."
I ponder to myself, while running to try and catch up to Eras.

 

"I guess when I thought Daras was dead, I started to care for my kingdom and help it more."

 

A period of silence follows.
"I suppose I should mention that there are still two more of my former subjects that have yet to show themselves." She swallows hard.
"...On second thought, I need to not think about that for a while.

...Didn't Nyre mention a girl you had just met? Who was he talking about? Or is that secret?"

 

Just spent about 4 hours straight reading the whole thing; I get it now, there's a character already possessing that attribute.
The wavering effect only occurs about my body, I can still create illusions of myself for the sake of normalcy. Plus, my control over light would additionally allow me to see the surroundings of my illusion-clone(s). Furthermore, it would be advantageous for me to stay in bright illuminated areas to charge up my energy, while just using an illusion-clone if I need to venture into a dark/underground location.

All in all, Daras seems like my polar opposite... totally didn't do that at all on purpose
