Lore/Story Ashes And Stone [ancients, Dern, The Eye]

This is a story based on the theory that Dern isn't plagued with darkness but instead with time (aging).

Ashes and Stone​

A province perhaps millions of years old could not sustain itself any longer. The Eye of God (yea I had a discussion... long story) gazed upon the land and decided it was time to start anew. To end the world crippled with age.

The people did not want to die.

They fled.

Many years later the Ancients longed for the comforts of their homes. They felt out of place; they were black and grey but this new world was full of rich reds and bright greens and marvelous blues. Together they went back over the mountain ranges to their home.

It was empty.

Desolated.

They looked upon their homeland. What was once an amazing array of villages was now nothing but ashes and stone. The Ancients succumbed to despair. They were cold and hungry and tired.

They were also angry.

They were angry at The Eye.

The power it had given them was life. Yes, all they were was animated rocks. But all life they knew was animated rocks. Piles of stone blessed with life.

Cursed with life.

Days after finding their province darkened with age, the Ancients set up a small home underground. It was made from the greys that were so familiar to them. It almost felt like everything was okay again.

Almost.

The Ancients were growing mad. Their bunker felt like a prison. They left to find a new home.

On the day of the summer solstice, the nomad Ancients found the Door of Time. Time was forgiving and let the Dernians back to before their province was cleared of life.

The Eye of God knew of this action and tried to follow them.

The Door of Time shut closed and locked itself with magic beyond mortal comprehension.

Until now.

Anyway, I tried to include a bit of lore but a bit of creativity too:

- The Eye was the Eye of God (and although it isn't evil, it acts as the antagonist. The two sides have both have good intentions)
- The Ancients are called that because they lived for so long (they're made of black-grey stone, kinda like a golem)
- The stronghold was a temporary home for the Ancients
- The Eye of God blessed the grey land with life by animating stone. After 10,000 years the land was old and crippled so the Eye ended all life and started life in the other province/s
- The Dernians (aka Ancients) were upset that they and their land had to die, so they ran away
- The Door of Time is/is controlled by a deity (lesser god)
- The power of life/eternal life is in the four crystals (from WynnExcavation)

A lot of evidence comes from the stronghold clues.

Btw the story is fictional (I mean, fiction inside of a fictional game/story. Inception?)

Meh, it doesn't really matter. Lots of people called it- well nvm, we already went over this.

1) Both are used interchangeably
2) Calling them "Dernics" sounds strange

 

Story wise, was kinda meh. Formatting wise, it feels like I'm in church reading a sermon, it doesn't flow well.

 

Ty for honest opinion.

I wrote it in 10 mins as a sort of short story. Ik it wasn't engaging or anything. I wanted to write about what could've happened. Again, not my best work ;)

 

Hey, it's not that bad. When I look at this, I see a promising start. Go through a few revisions, summon senpei @Toxicdrule , and keep on writing.

I've had a look at this, and I'm honestly impressed. The tone of this story, as short as it is, seems dark and foreboding, in a good way. Good usage of grammar, but you'll need to recheck some words, some of them don't make sense. Other than that, excellent start :D
Dammit, now I wanna write again...
