You are stuck in a cell. There are two doors. One leads to freedom one leads to death. And there are two guards who change shift every so often. Brothers. Twins. One always tells the truth, one always lies.

What is the singular question you can ask to figure out which door to go through. You only get one question and you have no idea if it's the lieing guard or the truth guard on duty as they look the same.

 

"Which door would the other guard say to go through?"

...Then take the door they don't say.

 

That's one I haven't heard in a while. "If I asked the other guy what's behind his door, what would he say?"

 

What door would the other guard go through? (go through the other door)

Time for a commom one as my creativity level is -1: What has 4 legs in the morning 2 legs in the noon and 3 legs in the evening?

Ok, so I have only ever seen like one person get this on their first try. I really hope you don't look it up on the internet, cuz I really like this one and I don't want it to be ruined. Also it works better said, but I guess written will do.

So there are two princes in a desert kingdom. Both wana marry the princess (the king's daughter) (lets assume no one is related except for the princess and her father)

But you see, the king hates both the princes. So he goes to both princes and tells them.

"See that city across the desert? Get on your camels and whoever's camel gets there last gets to marry the princess"

So the princes are wandering around on their camels for days, hoping the other one will get there first.

Eventually they meet up together with an old man.

The old man gives them advice, they do what the old man said, and they go racing off to the city across the desert.



What was the old man's advice?

There's actually a second solution to this one: If I asked YOU (the guard you're speaking to) which door is correct, which would you say?

The truth-telling one would tell the truth, and the lie-telling one would lie about him lying, so he would also tell the truth.

Go through the door you are told to go through, it would always be correct.

I didn't look this up, but my strategy in this situation would be to steal the other prince's camel and race to the other town on it. You said camel, not prince.

I'm guessing that's what the old man would say...
