Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That's a relief... I doubt he'd put thought into one thing when he can still go somewhere else."

I turn to you.
"Mind guiding me?"

 

"Of course not. Follow." I fly off southeast, towards a distant pass in the mountains.

OCC: We can timeskip if you want, or I can try making encounters. I have to sleep soon, though.

 

OOC: I'm attempting (failing) to fall asleep rn. An encounter might be a nice change of pace.

Again, I dive into the ground. My path underground is almost directly under yours.

 

We travel for quite some time. The sky fades to a hazy gray.

I reach out telepathically to you. "We're nearing Solignis. There's a massive cavern straight ahead. Also... There's a presence there."

 

"Presence? Like, Nyre presence or something from this world?"
I surface and take in my surroundings.

 

You find yourself next to an old abandoned shack. The city walls are only a hundred yards away. The whole place seems deserted. The only sound is a faint banging, though you can't tell where it's from.

A few people on horseback run by, exchanging quick messages. They take one look at you and run back through the open city gates, yelling "The demon is back!"

"They're jumpy... But it's from this world, and feels faint... Also panicking."

 

"Oh boy. Yeah, there's panicking... On both sides of this."

I look inside the shack, maybe there's something inside?

If not, I move cautiously towards the city gate.

 

There's nothing there except a torn banner with an odd symbol, orange and wolfish, and three old and rusty swords stuck into the ground at odd angles. The banging is getting louder, and a few chips of the blackish ground unearth themselves.

Proceed to the gate?

OCC: Dunno if you still want to go or not.

 

I move to the gate, green tome in hand.

I glance at my tail as I approach. I also try to fold my wings so they're not as big of a target for projectiles.

 

No one is even on the battlements anymore. An elf and a squad of five others, all wearing silver armor, stand at the gate's opening, though half of them look beaten up and tired.

 

"Wh... What happened here?" I call.

I throw both my blades to the ground.

 

I decided not to read 59 pages, so my character will fittingly not know very much about recent events. (Don't worry, I didn't read absolutely nothing)

Character Name: Luphyx (LOO-feeks)
Race: No one knows what he looks like, not even him. There are many things that he has forgotten, and this is one.
Ability(ies): Can manipulate light, creates illusions.
Blade, Bow, or Tome? (Choose up to two): The gauntlet of sparks: a heat resistant-glove that allows him to summon fire, however higher amounts or longer durations of flame cause his energy to be depleted extremely, leaving him vulnerable. He also always carries a pole-arm (basically an axe head on a long pole which he wields like a staff) in his off hand; he knows it really is just an illusion.
Position in community: Wizard of Light
Additional Details and Lore: Has a dark (or should I say 'light') past with Eras. He was cursed long ago, for not caring enough about the consequences of his actions (being too 'light'), to be forever haunted by his inability to ever experience darkness. Will often fool opponents into attacking themselves/eachother. Is solar powered, so to speak; he absorbs the sun's rays to gain energy. However, while he is alive and kicking, his entire body and the objects nearby have a mirage-like distortion, such that no one can actually see his physical features. . Shadows appear to bend away from him, even if he uses his abilities to camouflage himself. He only has one eye, and is old. Like, really old. He wishes to repel innocent people from the path of darkness, and to prevent them from repeating his mistakes. He also is in search of the counterpart to the gauntlet of sparks, the gauntlet of frost, which he has heard stories of in scattered whispers. Is always watching.
Relative location of settlement: Is a marauder and scavenger, with no place to call his home.

 

The only thing that bothers me is the thing where you constantly distort the image of your surroundings.

Other than that, I'll let the gods see if this works with the lore since it likely will affect both (certainly would affect Eras)

 

The distortion would only affect things I recently touched/passed close nearby, as if smoke was constantly coming off and wavering the air around me

 

After seeing Reflet and Vesius go, I say to the others, "There is... one thing we could do to stop Nyre from killing Daras. I could try to turn Daras back to us. It may be hard, but if I can make him start following my way of doing things again, like he did before when he betrayed me... I might be able to turn him back. Because if we can't, then we.... that is, one of you will have to kill him or we may be in trouble. I'll try, but does anyone want to come with me? Daras is going to be quite dangerous, and if this goes wrong then something very bad could happen."

OOC: Going to try and make the rp progress a bit too... this is going to get interesting..."

Interesting backstory... I'm ok with this. But one thing, which kingdom was Luphyx from (look at the Void Rift Report for the kingdom overviews, and some of the maps are later in the report because Rogue went afk)? Because it would make sense if he was from the Darklands I guess, though it is your choice. The Lost Kingdom isn't an option though: I want a recently mentioned character to be the only survivor, at least for now.

 

Xephyr's posture quickly becomes proper.
"I want to. Please, let me prove my worth."

Ihra has a curious sparkle in her eye...

 

"Yes Xephyr, you can come."

 

She steps forward, waiting for you to do something.

 

"Ok, if we need to find Daras, then he will likely be in somewhere with LOTS of death. By that, I mean a graveyard. A very big one too. No Mans Land seems like a good area to start."
I fly into the air and start heading towards No Mans Land.

Read through the report; Darklands seems good.
Quirk of the name and such: maybe Darklands got its name when all the light of the realm was forced to take on a physical manifestation and left...? Luphyx being the Wizard of Light and all...
