OCC: Why am I always sleeping when stuff happens...

"... Well then."

 

You feel a telepathic link form between the two of you. She's still crying.

"He... He told the others... Mistress... I didn't want it to..."
Telepathy isn't helping her composure.

 

There's a faint sound of gears clicking...

Silence.

Not wanting to upset her, I telepathically say,
"Well, whatever happens, I'll help you through it."

 

"By 'the girl you just met'... that would likely be the one with the giant whale... still, could be- actually, nevermind."
I turn to Xephyr and say, "Nyre... I'm guessing he told... your Mistress that you are now against the others?"

 

"Th... Thanks..."
It's pretty obvious that she's embarrased.

"Y-yes... I... If she comes... Ohhh..."
She wails and cries harder, crumpling on the ground.

"Oh god..." I mutter.

 

"Then I will try to protect you from her, if I can. And of course, Nyre and the others."

 

"Thanks..."
That helped a little.

"...but if it comes down to it, I won't let her take your world."

 

"Hmm... there are sometimes choices we may be forced to make, which either you may not like, or others may not like. I have had to make those decisions at some point... maybe they are worth making, but there will always be a price for it. You don't have to pay that price."

 

"Th-thank you... truly..."
This helps substantially.

"I... I want to make it up to you somehow... Please... Let me serve you..."

"Xephyr, not having a master isn't the end of your world." I'm a bit concerned.
"It's... it's the only life I've known..."

 

I look back and forth between Xephyr and Eras, not exactly sure what I'm expecting.
I mean, he IS a god... I think to myself.

 

Vei's in your head. More telepathy...
"So is her former mistress. Xlentia, the Deity of Decay... I don't know how she was corrupted. Xephyr's right, though... A personal appearance would be a serious issue."

 

"A deity with the title 'Deity of Decay'."
I say telepathically.
"80 gold coins says I don't last a minute."

 

"If Xlentia wanted to, you'd win a bet that this world wouldn't last a minute. Technically, her title is the Queen of the Void, but she hates being called a queen."

 

"Why? Because queens are too nice for her tasting?"

 

"Because of how she looks. She... let's just say dragons don't have crowns. I mean, I could wear a tiara or something... She's much closer to a normal dragon. You know, if a normal dragon could carry a city on each wing... But she's physically much closer to Yhrey than us Draconians.

...Anyhow, someone gave her a hard time about it and she now despises the title."

 

"I can't promise that you will be any safer serving me than being under my protection... but if you wish to, I will allow you to serve me."

 

She collects herself enough to get on her knees, turned towards you.
"I don't want safety... I just don't know... how to... Ugh, f-forgive me... I'm just a wreck right now."
She takes a couple breaths before looking at you.
"Th-hank you... I promise to do what you say as best I c-can..."

"Xephyr, I'm not trying to stop you, but sometimes... Nevermind. Sorry, forget I said anything." I look sheepish, realizing what I was going to say probably isn't wise right now.

She nods as she gets back on her feet.

 

I hiss and start to say something to Yhrey in dragon language, but he cuts me off with a growl.

"Fine..." I turn back to Vesius

"Ehm. So, you asked before what Yhrey was doing when he was shot? He says flying over Varden Plains, heading towards the forest with another dragon. They'd been wanting to rest there. The forest has been entirely undisturbed for ages, so it's always been a favorite spot for dragons."

 

"Wow... Would you mind if I saw this forest? Hopefully Nyre hasn't burned it to the ground... I'm sorry this happened, Yhrey."

 

"The forest is protected by my own magic. It shouldn't burn unless Nyre found some kind of workaround. And yes, you may see it if you like."
