gaia isn't much better than pure in damage dealing...
i don't find many mages that try to use melee to deal damage

that means you're biased toward your own lands, and in case you haven't realized meteor is a spell and pure gives spell damage

That is false. Gaia's raw spell dmg nerf is what really deters me from the weapon, if it did not have this I would consider refining my build. This wand may be better in melee than Pure, but definitely not spell damage.

Eh, although pure is pretty good, its such a common pick. I like gaia now because its not the first choice, yet melee mage is interesting. In my mind, dealing damage through melee frees up your mana to heal and teleport, and all of mages spells do not rely on spell damage. Heal is, well, heal. Teleport, again, is teleport. Meteor has a burning ground affect that makes it easy to land things like poison, and ice snake freezes. Mages spells are good even without spell damage, and freeing up mana for healing while still dishing out constant damage is... pretty interesting and unique
