The Fallow Up Update

Wow. Feeling the love...

 

Well thats what happens when the community rushes the staff and doesn't give them enough time to finish the update, so instead we need to wait for the follow up update to make us as happy as can be.

 

Sometimes I see Jumla running through the lobby that is probably why the update is taking so long. Nah jk. But I don't think we should rush the content team and staff, Gavel already defeated my expectations I think they atleast deserve a break

SPYROHAWK, there are two major issue with your complaints (other than spelling, but hell, I'm not gonna tell you how to spell).

The first issue is your insistence for a release date or time. The Wynn content team literally said "Gavel is coming in ____" for around a year. Nobody expected an update like that to take so long, but we are all still learning about what it's like to make your own video game.

If the administrators keep saying they it will come out sometime, and the game doesn't, people will get angry. The 'where the fucking hell is gavel' spam pressed on for several months, and when it was released, it was changed to 'what the fuck did gavel do' spam. A due date gives that kind of anger. It's really a sense of entitlement that drives this.

The second issue is your use of the words 'we' and 'us'. You seem to be trying to use two words to encompass everybody under your own opinion to make your claim seem more appealing to the general audience. Mob behavior is a valid marketing tactic in a free market, but you're not selling something. You're mainly complaining about how a small subset of the community, that chooses how to experience a game in a possibly negative way, wants something, without having given proper proof of that entire community. If you truly believe that this is a 'we' and 'us' issue, then you should go out, asking a few people and tag them, stating they contributed just as much as you to this idea, seeing as they validated your work.

Whats the point of theories if you have no evidence or knowledge of ANYTHING? JUST DONT MAKE THEM.

But onto your points. Idk about the rest of a community, but for me even a false due date would be better than no due sedate. It gives something to hold on to. Something to hope for. Even if they said "We don't know for sure, but he hope to get it out before the send of spring" would be good enough for me

Secondly, I use the words "we" and "us" for a reason. I am not speaking for the whole community. I am speaking for the theorists. The Wynncraft Theorist community and for those who enjoy reading the theories. I do not talk for myself only. I talk for the specific group that has come together to share their concerns with each other. It may have happened behind the scenes so you are not aware, but it is more than just me. You know the theorist "Cult" we sometimes talk about? That group, and those who enjoy reading the work of that group, is who I talk about when I use the words "we" and "us"

 

Whats the fun in creating annoying threads like these? Ok, we understand you want questions answered, but just waaaait. You people are acting like the few days before Gavel was released.

 

1) There is no fun. Only annoyance. I made this thread to see if I could get some answers.

2) Why wait if I can see if I can get some answers? Who knows, perhaps there was an expected due date and I just did not know about it. Or what if the devs just came up with one?

3) Not really? We knew the expected deadline then. This is asking for one (or at least something close to one).

 

Making all of these threads before all of the lore has been released reminds of a certain @Crescent_Omega , he tried to makea gavel handbhandbook bbefore gavel was released,mind telling us how the book is doing?

 

Not really my place to say anything as I'm not directly involved in the development of Wynncraft itself, so I'm going to speak from personal experience as a game designer and community manager rather than as a new admin for WC:

This is the opposite of how game development works. Developers can't give you a date even midway through the development process because there are too many factors that might or might not push back the release date. No one knows when a game will be finished; game development is hard and messy work. Marketers might try to force a release date (see: any game that has been delayed multiple times in the past few years), but throwing out a random timeframe to the community usually just leads to disappointment and distrust. It's better for everyone for the developers to say, "we're working on it" and come out with a more concrete timeframe when they actually have one.

Again, not speaking as a developer for WC since I don't really deal with any of that stuff. I'm speaking purely from my own personal experience.

To be fair half of those questions are just interesting quirks with mobs that don't really tie into the lore.

But anyways, this update took a lot of work. Quite a lot of work, but the truth of the matter is that we barely managed to get all of the content already in-game done in time. A province is a massive workload, and we were working up to the last minute. (I literally committed the final changes to The Realm of Light two hours before release, barely had time to test them because I kept getting messages saying "WE'RE RELEASING FINISH NOW" and stuff like that, most stressful 5 minutes of my entire life right there.) 50 quests took a lot of work. That's a lot. Like, seriously, do you even realize how many quests that is? A lot of questions will be answered in the future, but some of them you'll have to wait on our one coder for.

 

Why don't you theorists go for simple and reliable theories like Qira = Life instead of trying to put an entire timeline of Bob and Wynn together. Maybe that would help us digest your "theories".

 

I get it now. I did not fully understand that at the making of the thread.

Wow. Ok. However you do prove a slight point.

All the questions I put up were things we (or I, if you wana be technical) thought would be important to the lore. And all those things we had to put on hold due to not having enough info. Now knowing a bunch of them are unrelated to lore is actually a big step. Like take the devourers. We thought that due to the fact that some are slaved, some are escaped, they go around a big time stone thing, the dark souls, what not; we thought there would be more to them. That's just one example.

 

Didn't we just get 2 years worth of content or something? Seriously, theres so much stuff to do this update. You mentioned that you were level 58 in another thread, go out and explore the world! Absurdly large theories aren't the only part of the game after all. We waited 2 years for a whole provence, we can surely wait a few months for another cool update.

 

Well, for one, how do we know Qira = Life. There is nothing to support.

And we never said we were working on Bob and Wynn stuff... Who told you that?

But anyway, I see your point. But with no new info to make new simple theories, all we can do is take the stuff we know and look further in.

Trust me, I am looking around. If only you knew how many things I have put out to the theorists saying "Hey, was exploring. Found this, could be interesting. What do you think?". But that only gets you so far if you can't make heads or tales out of the stuff you find...

 

Most of you guys were complaining about how "Oh gavel is not out yet" well guess what? we fucking released it early, and left the higher level areas unfinished. and now you are complaning about it not being done. are you fucking kidding me?
