So many memories, sweet, sweet memories

 

Two words: Skyward Sword.

 

I hear this one game called Wynncraft has a pretty outstanding soundtrack :D
But seriously though if I had to pick a favorite video game soundtrack I'm not sure I have one. Each game's soundtrack is designed to reflect its own theme and tone so I think they are all perfect for the games they belong in, but I don't think any of them overwhelmingly stand out to me outside of their own game. I still enjoy them outside their respective games but not any more than the other. More often than not its anime music that stands out to me :3
If I had to choose a game soundtrack I suppose it would be Pokemon, Yugioh, or other nostalgic games like that. May not be musical masterpieces, but they are tied to a lot of fond memories, so I suppose any soundtracks like those are my favorite. Sorry if that's not a good answer :3

Ok im actually joking about this one too. Truth is, there is no one best song for video games, as the main purpose of songs in games is to make the player feel something, set the tone I guess. Some games do this well, others not so much. Here are a few examples of games that did it right:
Transistor
Undertale
Fract OSC
Pid
Fallout 3 (to a extent)
Bastion
Fez
Some games might have good music, but it is not good VIDEO GAME music. (Does not mean it cant be your favorite song) Think about what the music is trying to convey next time you play a game. Yiu can tell the difference between a game that is trying to get you to have fun and a game that is trying to make you experience something by how the music is put together.
