yes, but you can get items to counter it to neutralize it or go above if you get enough manasteal.

If u got it by grinding, where did u grind and what lvl was u at that moment?

 

I found a grim trap in the ice caves near rodoroc only after about 1.5 levels of grinding. But that's pretty darn lucky
