Some Old Poems

I did a couple of poems a long time ago, but then they all got wiped during 9/7, so I thought I might as well repost them.

Spoiler: The Crescent Moon

The Crescent Moon

I look up at the night sky
The crescent moon shines brightly
Against a sea of inky black
Never before have I seen a sight so beautiful

Suddenly
An arrow streaks through the air
Tears across my face
Draws blood
And buries itself in a tree

My heart races
I turn around
He is standing there
With a bow in his hand
His face hidden by the shadows
He draws an arrow from his quiver
And I run

I look back
And he is not there
And for a moment
I think
Maybe
I will survive

I look ahead
And there is a wall
And I panic
I realize
I will not survive

My heart races
I turn around

But I have nowhere to run

Once again
The arrow streaks through the air
Tears through my skin

I take one last look at the night sky

Far, Far Away

When I was still young
My grandfather told me of a land far, far away
Where the air reeked of death
And the shadows swallowed you whole
There was a demon there
Only to be defeated by a hero

I made it my quest to find that land
To slay the demon that called it home
And to bring myself fame and fortune

So I journeyed across the world
Through jungles
Across deserts
Down rivers
Over mountains
Until at last, seven years later
I found that land

The air reeked of death
And the shadows swallowed me whole
There was a demon there
But I was not the hero

Take Back the Night

A hundred years ago
We were mighty warriors
None could stand before us
All were crushed beneath our feet

A hundred years ago
The night was our homeland
Darkness was our best friend
We ruled the shadows

Now
We are weak and frail
We can no longer fight
They crush us beneath their feet

Now
They have taken the night from us
Darkness is our worst fear
They rule the shadows

But we are not defeated
Not yet
Not ever

You are our future
You are our warriors
You can bring back the glory days

Claim your birthright
Your sword and shield
Step forth
Be brave
And take back the night

Yeah, it's completely unrelated though. I think I wrote it before the song came out actually.

 

Y'know when you're expecting something to be decent but not great but then it's really great?

It's only been nine days since the last reply so bumping is good right?

 

yes
I like them all, especially far far away.
Out of the three, I feel like Crescent moon has the most touching message but it doesn't come across well.
Try and make the poems flow a little bit more. Have the lines rhythmically lead to each other.
They are good btw!

 

Yeah, these are from about a year ago and now that I read them I feel that I could have done better. Thanks for the advice!
