You know how in the ragni outskirts, you find the bridge destroyed and the guy tells you terrible creatures destroyed it? I believe that ragni's 57th horde (the horde where Bob left) was the day before you came to the province of wynn. In concealed letters, Bob wrote that there were new recruits comming soon,

Dear Nilrem,

The letter I enclose to you has been sealed with concealment magicks. I trust you to know how to read it.

My war against the creature is futile. Intel has reached me from a trusted source. Our world is far smaller than we could have imagined, our magick feeble in comparison to what i am about to explain.

There are realms beyond our comprehension, powers we can not hope to defeat. Two immense forces are at war, with our plain of existence being the battleground. There is a dark creature of the night in a land "far" away, it poses a threat to all.

I give you this letter as a warning and a farewell, friend. I am going to challenge the beast and attempt to seal it away using my own life force, for I know that is all i can do, killing it is not a option.

You know of the magic i have infused in my animal companions, I trust you to hide them until one worthy is able to wield my might. The world can not know of my sacrifice, no one must search for me. You must fake my death, and create a body for them to bury.

The fight will continue, but at least the new recruits will have a fighting chance for the years to come. I wish you luck, Nilrem, continue to train the forces of good, you are the most skilled man than I have ever known.

Supposedly (and apparently the official timeline needs to be updated) it goes:
100 B.V.A. Portal opens
90 B.V.A. Bob is born
18 B.V.A. Bob vanished
17 B.V.A. Bob's tomb shows up
0 B.V.A./A.V.A Villagers arrive
10 A.V.A. You arrive
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

didn't the portal open 1000 years ago?

 

Aight, I'm tracking times in history. The 57 horse came in over 30 years ago, when Bob was 72. The portal opened 1000 years ago, but the Portal was uncovered 100 years, which is when Wynn Empire fell.

 

It's unknown whether it's 1000 or 100, since both are stated. I'm fairly certain the 100 year is just a typo, but perhaps it's vice versa.

That's plausible (though I'm not sure how we would know it opened) though I think this is the part where the timeline needs to be updated.

No matter what timeline you go by, it does not make sense. Bobs death is already well known by the time you come. More than if he just left yesterday

And notice how he tells Nilrem to keep training the good in the letter?

That's my next point. Some of the lore is off and has been confirmed to be off. I am planning a thread on that.

That has come up in conversation. I personally side against that one. Yes you could argue that he "trains the good" but we really have no info on that. We don't have enough info to make an assumption that big.

 

Eh I mean he's there for WE D but it's not like we don't constantly jump the gun and make assumptions.

 

Exactly. The only argument is that in the starter quest he is recruiting you. But he never really trains you.

Never jump the gun and make assumptions that you do not have evidence for.



(Yes, I know that was sarcastic on your end, but although it may look like jumping the gun to you, it usually never is)

 

Alright I kinda get you're saying to have evidence but it also seems like you're telling me my theory(/ies) with a small amount of evidence is jumping the gun yet you've made theories with bad evidence and seem to think it's fine.
