The Unofficial Trove Thread

Well, I got bored, so I decided to make a 'thread' about one of my 'favorite' games called Trove. So in all seriousness, from this thread, you may feel free to:

• Talk about the PTS (Public Testing Server, AKA Pinata Server)
• Recruit for Shadow Towers
• Give advice for 'building' your favorite class or a certain class into a BOSS
• Recruit for your guild and get help building your club world into a 'swag paradise'
• Get help building your Battle Arenas into that awesome arena of bloodshed you've always dreamed of... I suppose...?
• Anything else related to Trove!

Well, I'm done talking. Have at it. (And remember: if it's not Trove-related, you're gonna have a bad time. Negativity will also result in you having a bad time. Constructively 'criticizing' the game is fine, though.)

 

How/what is Trove actually
I've downloaded it but I'm not sure if I should start playing

 

Trove is a great game. It's like a world made of cubes and voxels, with qualities of an MMO. I suggest you start playing it. I may put my Trove referral code in my signature if it's allowed so you can refer me and maybe get a free Class Coin.

For one, everything costs MONEY. Hey, want this item to finish your current quest fast? Buy it for $10.00 USD!

The class system isn't very good either. It's not like Wynn's, where you type /class and it automatically takes you to the selection screen. You have to go to the hub, and then BUY IT. BUY BUY BUY BUY.

Also, all it is is DUNGEONS. Raid dungeons, buy things, build things, repeat. Can this get any farther from an MMORPG?

No problem. Everyone has their own opinions about Trove. If it weren't that popular, Trove would probably lose... I'd say half their population by now. Personally I think Trove is a great game and all, but I think it could be better!

I see your point with having to constantly buy things. Trion Worlds must've really gone off the deep end with P2W. I personally don't like P2W games, but the gameplay is what matters most to me. Trove has good controls overall to me.

As for the class system, I agree that it IS annoying going back and forth from a U5 world to the hub and back to square one at Novice. As for Wynncraft, I STILL can't even get into the game without being stuck falling out of the friggin' world. (I still can't use ANY commands whatsoever, plus I just started the game and that happened to me. To this day, I'm still angry about that. I'd probably only be able to play if it were for a MIRACLE. I've addressed that problem on GitHub as well, and the suggestion I got was to either re-add Wynncraft to my server list or reinstall Minecraft (and possibly lose OptiFine along with it). Which poison should I pick for that?)

Dungeons? No problem! I like dungeons! Crafting system seems fine to me. Hands down. The only downside? It takes 5+ minutes to convert a full stack of cubes into a different type. But to counter this, why not leisure yourself with a large dumgeon? Should take a minute or two. It seems pretty good of an MMORPG to me, but the P2W is kind of a let down.

Overall, I think Trion Worlds wasn't too bad with Trove. Not good according to you, but also not bad. I'll give it a rating of 8/10 just because of P2W. I don't feel I'd be quitting any time soon, but seriously, Trion Worlds needs to make their games more F2P and a LOT less P2W for Pete's sake!

 

I've been stuck playing trove for a long while now. Besides it being soul-wrenching MMORPG hell with dungeon raiding, repeatedly farming for flux and upgrading weapons, breaking down weapons. I find it entertaining. It's pretty much Wynncraft without quests. But with the option of being a completionist.

 

With the market nowadays, I quit Trove about as fast as I started it. Grinding was a bit less of a pain with friends to do it with, but I used the crap out of the market.

I got a loan of 50 infinium from a friend to craft an item.
Instead, over the next two months, that 50 infinium became...

70 moonwing dragon souls for myself (only reason I got the legendary on my 6th day of playing)
100 Ancient and Neon Dragon souls (both coming with a net profit)
Cotton Candy
Every Treasure Isles pet thingy
1 quad- and 2 penta-forged souls that went into getting a Radiant
12 non-craftable mounts
A Patron Pass
Three Class Coins
Several thousand infinium to either use or sell during slow times for other commodities (And 100 to pay the friend back)
A bone dragon (70 souls, at least) for a newbie friend
Half a moonwing dragon for the friend who gave me the loan originally (Was compensated, he really wanted infinium)
Infinity frames so my friends stopped accidentally taking another's crops
I-don't-even-want-to-know-the-number radiant shards for maxing out runecrafting
180k flux sitting in my chest

...And the item that I wanted to craft then forgot about for a month and a half.

If you're one of those people who can deal with patience to see the numbers rise, F2P is more than viable in Trove.

...Then the Revenant came out and I got a bit bored soloing U6 with horrible ping. (Made farming easy, though)

It's super grindey, but it's decent if you can tolerate it. There's tons of stuff to do.
