    It's an elven merchant in rodoroc, which is holding the liquid emerald, when it gets killed by the guards the le drops on the ground but you can't pick it up, like the dwarves in Thanos and their hammers you can't pick them up.

    I stood there once for 10 mins until I finally understood ;-;

    the elf is a passive mob (he'll only attack you if you attack him) but the guards always seem to target him
