Closed: Reaserch Gathering: Grey Skin

In a book I read a while back, humanoid figures had grey skin. They were kept in a kind of frozen state, where they were neither alive nor dead. Any cuts, bruises, that sort of thing they would take wouldn't heal, it would keep hurting like when they got it. Eventually some of them would go insane from the pain, as it was too much.

Possible connections?

I believe Drows are dark elves, though they are humanoid, elves have nothing to do with Bob, his past, or his family.

 

She has pitch-dark skin, not gray. Her dress is gray, however.

I wouldn't press this issue further.
