Why Isn't Wynn More Popular Than Mineplex?

Let me ask you a question.
Would you think it would be better if we had 20,000 people playing this? Do you think we would end up better than them at that point?

In my opinion, this small, heartwarming community does the trick for me. (Financially speaking, a bigger community would be better, however)

 

It's a fair point, but we should at least have a nice 2,000-3,000 so that wynncraft stays humble but gets proper funding. As is they are not golden.

 

Actually... you can't compare that 2 servers..... They are totally diferent! However, the buildings are more elaborated in wynncraft, as the build team has created an artificial land, and not just maps. Furthermore, the plugins are actually better too!

 

Well, yes, financially speaking we'd need a larger community (included with updated and featureful Store).

A large part of why Mineplex is more popular is because of how many famous Youtubers play it. You see all these Youtubers with hundreds of thousands and even millions of subscribers making videos on Mineplex, while Wynncraft doesn't have very many at all. I can only think of a couple large Youtubers that made a series on Wynncraft, all of which they stopped after a couple episodes. It just doesn't get views, so it doesn't get the advertising it needs for a large player count. Maybe after the followup update for Gavel, one of the big Youtubers that used to play here will come back and showcase the server again. Back then when those Youtubers played on the server, Minecraft wasn't as big as it was now. Now Minecraft is HUGE, so hopefully Wynn can appeal to some of the Youtubers and have them return for that advertising.

It also attracts the main demographics of Minecraft, children. Kids usually don't have too long of an attention span or interest in things, and Mineplex along with any minigame servers appeal to that. Wynncraft takes more effort to play, and at times can be sort of puzzling and complicated (character builds, quest puzzles, sometimes even just reading, etc).

 

I think that popularity would come in time. Imagine the main Wynncraft youtubers hitting a milestone amount of subscribers paired with the release of Dern. We all saw what Gavel did at first release, player cap was peaking. If only Sebb and others can get so many subscribers they could grab that cap and hold it there.

I think Captainsparklez would be a great youtuber to get on. After seeing his mianite series, he is very dedicated to grinding, etc. by live streaming. If he came on we could definitely see a real series for wynncraft come from a major youtuber.

You are comparing really different servers here. Both of these servers have there own way of interesting people and both communities consist of people with different interests. Someone interested in mini-games might not be interested in rpg, the other way around as well. Something can be setup really well, however this does not directly mean that everyone will love it.

Also, lets keep it classy here and lets not state opinions as facts^-^. Okay, so in your opinion Mineplex is not great. Judging by the many players who play on there, not everyone thinks so. It is uncalled for to call a server bad because you yourself dislike it.

Yeah, and he seems to still be interested in the story aspect of some things. He still does the occasional adventure map like he used to when he was a lot less famous, and of course the whole Mianite thing.

It's usually just a couple devs working on a single game, not all of them do. For example, Codename_b is one of the few devs that work on Warlords. TKR is also not popular enough to get the constant updates, therefore wouldn't attract enough attention and in turn wouldn't bring enough profit.

As many have said, it's an apples-to-oranges sort of deal. It's actually quite a good metaphor, with Mineplex being the apple while Wynncraft is the orange.

Apples are probably the most recognized fruits. If you ask someone to think of a fruit, chances are Apple is going to be a very common answer. They're bright, appealing, easy to eat, can be enjoyed in many different ways, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a person who won't eat at least one type of apple.

Oranges are somewhat less common than apples, but still well-known. While they can be delicious once you get into them, you have to put in the work of peeling them beforehand, and the sour taste can drive some people off. In addition, eating them for too long can hurt your mouth, what with all the citrus. This doesn't mean they're bad, just that they aren't for everyone.

Back when I played Mineplex I swear there were 9287 rant threads an HOUR about those things
