Novelty - 1.7.10 (old Thread)

Novelty is a kitchen-sink modpack that comes with a little bit of everything! There is no real set goal to work for, though you can create your own. With the amount of mods you have to work with, your choices aren't too limited, and you can feel free to do whatever you set yourself up to accomplish. This is a lighter modpack made to appeal to users with below-average computers and systems, and won't cause them to lag horribly. We have a server dedicated to this modpack, which I have planned to set up events and special objectives for using the CustomNPCs mod.

2. TROLLING AND PRANKING IS ALLOWED IN MODERATION, AND ONLY UNDER THE VICTIM PLAYER'S CONSENT**(See "Prank Approval" on player application.)

You may not use TNT, explodable materials such as nukes, or lava-like items to prank. Revision 2.1
You are not allowed to prank if you have not submitted a "Prank Approval" application. Revision 2.3.1
3. DO NOT ABUSE GLITCHES. FIND AND REPORT BUGS TO SUBMONSTERINE BY PRIVATE MESSAGING HIM ON THE FORUMS OR SKYPE.

4. TO PROVE THAT YOU HAVE READ THE RULES, YOU MUST TYPE IN "ALLAHU AKBAR" SOMEWHERE DISCRETELY IN YOUR APPLICATION FOR IT TO BE ACCEPTED.

5. SWEARING IS ALLOWED, AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT AIMING IT AT SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR IN A SERIOUS TONE.

Co-ops are allowed, for survival and base-building. This rule applies in spawn and public city and town spaces. Revision 2,3.1

7. PLEASE CLEAN UP CREEPER HOLES AND EXPLOSIONS.
This applies to trees and bushes as well. Please chop down the entirety of the tree/bush. Floating trees aren't exactly appealing... Revision 2.3.1

No Ars Magica 2? WAAATTTTTT Thats a very large magic mod you missed.

 

Novelty has cut ties with, and is no longer affiliated with @Infinirice or any of its subsidiaries. The server used to be run by Rice, not me. Crashes during that time are hardly my fault, if the same modpack works perfectly on the new server, with no bugs or issues thus far.

I realize that Rice would like to revive his Watmon server, and I hold nothing against that. Do as you will with Watmon; Novelty and Watmon are seperate.

As much as I want to add it (believe me, I've been pestered in multiple instances by certain individuals...), the mod alone takes up more than 1/3rd of the megabytes for the total mods in the pack. As this modpack is meant to appeal to individuals with lighter computers, I did not feel like this would be a good decision. I hope I could make this clear :)

Reason For Joining: A time waster. My friends are on the other side of the earth and i can't play with them cough league solo-queue is cancer. Would be nice if i play something rather than opening browser tabs for a second then closing it again.

You're accepted!

When you get added to the convo, you'll get a media fire download that contains every mod in our modpack. All you need to do is drag and drop the files into the mods folder, and make sure you have Forge for 1.7.10, then launch the modpack and put in the IP given to you in one text document of the modpack files.

Reason For Joining: (2-3 sentences) I've always tried modded servers, but honestly I'd like a private one to chill on too. This is the first one that doesn't require Skype that I've found.

Skype: Sorry, can't. But earlier it was 9:54 for me.

Timezone: EST, East Coast of Canada/United States

Prank Approval: Yes, as long as it's actually funny and not terrible.

Other: I may not be able to be on all the time, more like in my free time. I have some cool generator blueprints that make infinite magma without drawing out of the Nether, and I'd love to share it with the server if anyone would like it. Its 100% sustainable. Disclaimer: I helped my friend do this generator, I'm not entirely sure how he pulled it off to work properly, but I know the basic idea.

Also, you know Technicpack is always an option, too, right? It's a public modpack maker where you can upload your modpack where everyone can download every single one of the mods instantly from the launcher, no clicking links or dragging around files necessary. All you would need for security is not to have the IP come with the modpack, and have a whitelist.

You need permission from all of the mod makers to put it on Technic Platform. (Yes, most modpacks on Technic platform are illegal. That's why I don't use it very much anymore.)

 

Isn't that for public modpacks? This would be a private one, pretty much same as downloading and installing it on your client individually.
