Heretic Gods: a forum experiment

What is Heritic Gods?:
To drum up intest in a comic i am creating called "the narrative" this is a forum game that has to do witg one of the three stories in "the narrative", called Heritic Gods. In this game, a team of 6 will be trying to acheive a goal in a strange fantasy world. Simple combat, based mostly on strategy, are your tools to survive. The catch? One member of your party is a god, and another is a heritic, who wants the players to not conplete their goal.

How a round works:
A round can take quite a long time, or no time at all. There will be a time where players will be recruited, until there is 6, no more no less. People who do not make it into a round can still participate, but that will be explained later. Once the players are all ready they will begin their quest in a tavern somewhere in the world. They will be given a task (e.x. steal the kings scepter), and the group will work to try and achieve that goal. All except one. One of you is a traitor, who will be given a time and a place for their betrayal to happen. They need to subtle, and try and break the group apart. The other players need to be aware, and try and see it coming. But be warned, exposing the traitor at a bad time could lead to horrible consequences...

The other special player is the God. All characters choose a patron god at the begenning of the game, but one of those people is the actual god themselves. That person will get special bonuses (e.x. the godess of fire gets to be immune to many different poisons) all players get bonuses from their gods, but the god gets many more bonuses, and has unlimited mana. The normal players want to know who the god is, but not call them out on it, because that could lead to other gods getting angry.

Game mechanics:
The game works like a simplified tabletop game, but with a lot of fluidity. There are no levels, and three major "stats" health, mana, and attack. Remember stealth and diplomacy, as those are very useful also. If no one is in combat, I will present a situation and the characters must figure out what to do. Reply your answer, and I will respond with another situation or reply. There are no revives, be Careful.

THE WORLD OF KENDRITH



the world you will be stepping into the Kendrith, a small planet making up of three main continents. The game will be taking place on the continent of Felren, which for comparison ia roughly the size of Spain. The continent is home to the Dark Forest Elves and the Crescent Dwarves, with Human settelers coming in later. Humans live mostly in the central plains, with Elves in the surrounding forests. The Dwarves used to live in the Crescent Mountains, but after a long war were thrown out by Drow settlers from Tramaken. The southern swamps are home to Orcs and Naga, and the Fae are hidden on the mountain peaks, especially Mount Ret.
The Drow almost always follow the godess Arachne, and the Fae cannot devote to one god.



For a little info on the world itself. Mana is a form of energy that bypasses all known laws of matter. Gods are the conduits of this power, able to access it at will. Their followers can also tap into their "mana stream" getting the powers associated with that god. But they do not have full control or power like the god does.

Also i would suggest every player choosing a different good to follow (2 per god at most). All gods are useful for both you personally and for the team.

Ooh a well rounded team is forming! Let me explain the buffs that each God gives the player.

Illusion: create fake objects, easier to do if you have seen the item before, can disguise players as a different race

Luck: can pay mana to change what a dice roll outcome was, gets crits much easier.

Fire: can start fires easily, immune to most status effects

Perception: can make characters less stubborn, can make small objects big, or far distances short depending on various circumstances (it all depends what your perception is)

Water: can move water with mind, can also control the flow of others mama streams, causing them to generate mana slower

Stone: can speak to mountains, can make maps of places they have never been, can cause enemy attacks to do less damage.

Wind: can move at incredible speeds, can cut off air around people.

Preffered weapon: Short swords and spears(including tridents) but -2 on heavy weapons, blunt weapons, and ranged weapons.

Round one start!
This round is called "the crown prince of the crescent mountains"

Welcome to the town of Tenesvere, a small farming villiage near the crescent forest. The town is primarily used as a pit stop between the last dwarves city in the Crescent mountains (thul), and the capital of Kings Roost. The town is situated on a small hill, with a large guardtower at the top. A partially completed wall surrounds the town, that looks like construction had been abandoned long ago.

At the town tavern, named "croak inn" is a meeting place for the town. It is crowded at this time (5:00), with town citizens chatting and listening to the local music. 6 travelers are sitting in the back of the tavern, talking to the town blacksmith, a dwarf named Prull. Prull has a bag of gold on the table, and speaks to the adventuerers In a quiet tone. "You have probably heard of the Dwarf/Drow wars right? Well, as it turns out, my great grandfather was in that war, in fact, he was the dwarves prince! He dies in the final battle, but my father came to this here town. There is something inside the mountain that has great significance to my family. The crown of my dead grandfather. After the war, the Drow Queen ordered all the major artifacts of the war to be put into a museum showing the Drow's "great victory", even though we all know it was just to piss me off more. My grandfather's crown is in the museum, right next to the King's crown. In any way possible, I would like for you to retrieve this crown. I will pay very well for this, even with my profession, I have relatives who are very wealthy..."

Prull looks at the party, then looks at the gold on the table "here is 100 gold in advance. Use it well" he then stood up and left the inn.


NOTES:
I will be choosing roles soon. Let the game begin! There should be a general consensus on what you are going to do before you do it. I will be able to tell.

Cole will make a map of the mountains because his patron god is Jol.

 

To make a accurate map of the mountains, a follower of Jol must be physically touching the mountain.

:P this is why a lot of questions should be asked. I have answers to quite a bit of them, in a secret Google sheets file. But you guys cannot see that, as I am very against meta gaming and it has a lot of spoilers

The comic is still in the planning phase, but well into it. I'm very happy to hear that some people are exited for it :D

Unfortunately, this game is full. If someone drops out (as in they do not respond for quite a while) I might allow someone to take their place though!

 

(Is this gonna be based off of the age of imperialism? Or have similar themes? The intro certainly did)
Does anyone know of the location of this cave? It is a mystery to me, and it seems that it should be our first order of business.
