SPOILER Flight In Distress Theory (pirate Theory)

A smaller thing here: What you get from the quest.

You're given a ring, the Ring of Rubies more specifically, which supposedly belonged to the Pirate Queen. In the texture pack, there is an ore called Ruby Ore (in place of Redstone) yet we never see rubies other than on this ring.

Something else interesting: Emeralds weren't emeralds at first. They were something else that was meant to be for trading: Rubies. These were removed however, in place of Emeralds to trade with Villagers, because one of the Mojangstas (Dinnerbone?) was colourblind and had trouble differentiating them from other stuff. We know that villagers horde Emeralds as their currency, but what if, in the Wynn universe, Rubies were never removed? They were a currency somewhere else?

We also know that the Pirates have an airship, which can fly very high. What if the pirates flew somewhere else, perhaps another province? What if, this different province didn't have Villagers, and therefore used a different currency for trading? Maybe, just maybe, the inhabitants trade the other currency: Rubies.

 

So what you're saying is that perhaps, another province uses rubies instead of emeralds? Or they just use rubies for special tradements.

 

It's possible. Why would the Pirate queen, the most likely richest pirate of all, wear a Ring of Rubies, when, say, a Ring of Emeralds would be more signifying of wealth in our 2 Provinces?

 

That's something very interesting actually. Where did she get it from? How did she get it? (Raided it, probably.)

 

Dude I think you're looking too deep into this. I believe that they are just little eastereggs thrown around for fun... honestly this quest has extremely low significance. In fact this entire quest was built around introducing you the player to airships. If these items were significant they would probably be shown in a bigger quests with an actual story.

 

I like going deep down. xD I mean, it's just theorizing after all. And I find it kinda exciting to go deep into stuff.

 

You are good at this stuff, the way you try to connect things and how you want to dig deep. You should consider making more posts on lore.

Maybe the reasons the Pirates were raiding wasn't just so they can get riches, but something else. You did mention that that there are some pretty high ranking people on the airship, but what if they didn't care about the other people on the airship. I don't think they were ever planning to blow up the airship the player is on in flight of distress. They probably wanted the player. The player does come across a lot of secrets and other valuable information on their journey. The Pirates might have wanted something from the player like where to find other items that might fall into their masterplan.

I feel like nothing is canon anymore @_@ This isn't the first time a builder just built something or left something just because ;-; I'm starting to think Grian isn't so strict about how everything needs a purpose :I Does this mean the random heads players find are also just a builder being random? Honestly this just makes thing complicated :/ Either every detail matters or nothing should be taken seriously.

I will now be perfectly honest.
Builders build for the sake of the build. Grian (or a GM) says the general theme, and builder goes and build the theme. The builder decides what the hell they want to put there.
What I like to see is theories. Theories about things we never thought of. Theories that makes your mind say "Wow, I never thought about it this way.". Please, don't stop.
Even though a builder doesn't give it a purpose, you can!

 

Yeah, that could be the reason too. But how did the Pirates know the player was on the ship? It wasn't planned for us to enter that ship.

That won't stop me making theories. Even if they're incorrect, I love making theories.

So. You are telling us that you added extremely hard to get items into the cargo hold of a ship in a super vital quest, including a one of a kind badge, hard to obtain crystals, and Mage protected water, because you just felt like it? Im sorry, that's just bad work
