Psa: How To Not Look Ridiculous In Your Armor Skin

Armor skins are back, bringing with it a love/hate reaction from the community. For those of us not so hot on the idea of literally wearing a dragon's skin or looking like some sort of homeless nature fairy, there is a bit of hope.

Step 1:
Open your game menu (also sometimes called the escape menu), the one you use to disconnect from servers and change your settings, etc.

Step 2:
Click on 'Options'

Step 3:
Click on 'Skin Customization.' If you are playing 1.8+, skin customization will be the first option on the left side, right underneath the FOV toggle

Step 4:
Choose what you would like to turn off! You can remove your hat, jacket body, individual sleeves and pant legs, whatever suits your style.

And you're done!
Now you can look awesome charging into battle, seemingly with nothing but your weapon of choice. ​

 

Wait but isn't the Skin Customization client-side not server-side

 

But then, the overlay (if your skin has it) of your skin gets removed which makes some skins look like shit.

I switch armour when I fight and move around and stuff and this update COMPLETELY ruined my strategy because it has to load the armor skins! They need to add a toggle option!

 

I'm not entirely sure, but I had disabled everything from a skin I had a while ago and forgotten to turn it back on. When the server updated, I couldn't figure out why none of my armor was showing, and my friend couldn't see it either.

Well, that's up to the discretion of the player xD This for anyone who doesn't even know the option exists

 

I got a turtle shell helmet, so I'm pretty happy

 

Yeah, just switching servers is pretty annoying now.

Join server, freeze for 10 seconds while the resource pack loads even though you already had it, freeze for 5 more seconds while the server picks your class even though you have toggled it, hope you don't get kicked for flying even though you're on the freaking ground, and now freeze for 5 extra seconds for the armor skin to load?

PLEASE.

 

My resource pack loads within 3 seconds for me

/toggle autojoin should work unless your connection is shit

Maybe a little too exaggerated :p

 

I have autojoin toggled, and it works properly. It just takes forever to pick my class. :p

Also, 3 seconds is more than enough for a mob to kill you if you're just standing still. xD

 

My class picks instantly with the toggle as well, so I think that detail may be on your side, as I don't even see the selection screen or anything. The only freezes I have are loading the pack and the armor skins, except the skins are broken for me right now. People kept shouting from the world I was on and I even switched worlds and relogged a few times and my skin layers are on so they're just plain glitched for me.

Also if you die within 3-5 seconds I am genuinely concerned about your health, armor, and overall stats, as well as how you have been playing this game up until now XD
Even as a squishy class you shouldn't be dying that fast.

Nope, i´ve seen players turn off layers on a server.

 

Well, servers crash every now and then. :p

 

Yes. But then you lose two SPs once in a while. Hardly a systemic issue.

 

Good thing I made my clothing close-fitting for this very reason, as well as it interfering with the looks of some of my armours!

As much as there are things I don't like about armour skins, there so much I do like that it outweighs them. Sure, there a slowdown for when you log in and switch armour, but if, like me, you've found a good set, you most likely won't be trading it armour too often in the open world at higher levels. Sure, some armours might look bad, but it's better than looking than Diamond Armour McSameAsEveryone. As well as that (unless you're one of those people) Wynncraft and Minecraft are played in mainly in First Person, so you'll only really be seeing your right hand.

 

My helmet doesn't look very good. It really doesn't look good for a mage.
My chestplate works very well for a mage.
My leggings, which I think is the same with all items you get from quests, aren't appearing.
My boots also look very good for a mage. Or they did last time I looked. I changed them since I last looked.

 

No, its server side, if you take off your outer layer, everyone sees you taking it off.

 

Am I the only one who doesn't seem to have armour skins???
