Bruce walked into Nisovin’s laboratory, almost immediately noticing the gnome tinkering with a strange pair of boots. Nisovin was, of course, very small compared to the other dwarves the old man had interacted with. The gnome, however, never allowed his miniscule size get in the way. He seemed to seclude himself to his private lab, virtually free from distractions. Nisovin spun around on his bench, tilting his head at the old man as he walked inside.

“What a pleasant surprise!” Nisovin cackled, nearly falling off of his swiveling chair in the process. The gnome jumped up, landing gracefully on the quartz-tiled flooring. “What might bring you here?”

“Well, Niso…” Bruce replied, pausing for a moment. He had almost forgotten why he had travelled to the gnome’s lab in the first place.

“Ah, enough with the small talk! Take a look at these!” Nisovin laughed, putting on the pair of boots he just finished tinkering with. He took a few steps back, squinting his eyes at Bruce. With one kick of his shoes to the floor, they glowed blue, as if powering up. Upon only a moment’s notice, the boots propelled Nisovin forward at high speeds. “Wahooooo!” the gnome cried in excitement, flying straight past the old man and kicking off of a wall, leaving a crack where he collided. “So, whaddya think?” he yelled from across the room, sliding down the damaged lab wall in style.

“It looks a bit small for me, I’m sad to say,” Willakers replied, stroking his massive white beard. “I came here for something else.”

“Oh, you mean THOSE things!” Nisovin called, striding over to the old man. “I thought you’d never ask! Come on, come on!” he boomed, waving an arm forward.

The two walked across the laboratory, coming up to a huge door constructed of iron and quartz. Nisovin pulled out what appeared to be a gun of some sorts, aiming it at the door. With a single shot of energy, the door began to open from the top and bottom, revealing a dark room just ahead. “In here!” He laughed and positioned the gun properly on his back, resting his hands on his hips. The two travelled down the hallway; Nisovin holding out a lantern of sorts, and Bruce to his side, dragging his blade behind himself, leaving a thin scratch behind him. Eventually, the hallway opened up into another large room. Books of various sized lied scattered across the cold, metal floor, with something a bit more mysterious lying in the back.

“Hmm… where might it be…” the gnome asked himself, waving his enchanted lamp around. He strode towards the wall, whipping out his gun again. He aimed his weapon at it, and fired off another beam of energy. The room began to glow dimly; the light shining brighter as time passed. In front of the two stood the figures of multiple metal constructs of human-like shapes. A ticking sound reverberated through the room while the gnome dressed in blue and gold robes quite literally worked his magic.

“So, these are the golems, you said?” Bruce asked, holding his sword as a safety precaution. Nisovin laughed hardily, pulling out a wrench and poking at something on one of the golem’s backs.

“Mhm!” he replied, hitting his wrench on the construct’s iron head. The mech began to whir with one final knock, and Nisovin rocketed off its back. He watched in excitement as the eyes of the machine glowed an ominous red, and began to rise up onto its feet; standing at nearly twice Bruce’s size. “Alright! Show me what you’re capable of!” he called in glee, looking at the golem as if it were a child. It whirred, moving one leg up and slamming it back down on the floor. The two heroes jumped back, rattled by the being’s steps. “Okay now, maybe I need to fix that!” Nisovin giggled, walking behind the golem. It, however, didn’t seem to enjoy the gnome’s presence. With one quick move, it intentionally fell backwards in attempt to crush Nisovin. The gnome, of course, was quicker on his feet, managing to back out of the way with one tap of his rocket boots; he simply zoomed to the side as the mech collided with the floor. Immediately, it rose back up from the ground and stared at Bruce, pulling its arm backwards. Bruce jumped back, realizing it was about to strike again. After dodging the golem’s punch, he swung forward with his sword, chinking the iron-clad tank’s cold body.

“What did you do to this thing?” Bruce shouted sternly, avoiding another onslaught from the golem. The old man jumped, dodging another punch and grabbing onto its hammer-like arm. In fury, the golem attempted to throw Bruce backwards. The old man was flung to its back, but he held on tightly, driving his legendary Excaliju into the back of the iron villain. “Kill this thing already!” he roared, pulling his sword out of the golem’s back and slashing at its side again.

Zap!” Nisovin cackled, pulsing his gun at the golem. The mech, however, was still unphased. It whirred, slamming Bruce backwards into the wall. He fell down to the floor, dropping his trusty golden blade just out of reach. The golem prepared for another attack, turning its sluggish body around. Before it could pull back its arms for another attack, Nisovin propelled himself forward with his prototype rocket boots, bashing the golem in the head. Using the opportunity to his advantage, he kicked backwards, firing his gun at the mech again. He turned his gun around and bashed it relentlessly, constantly denting the figure until its iron body collided with the floor.

Meanwhile, Bruce finally found himself back on his feet, still struggling to stand up straight. He walked cautiously over to his sword and picked it up from the rubble created by the golem, and focused his gaze on the gnome and mech, whom were still in the heat of battle. Finally snapping out of his trance, he made haste towards the golem. Nisovin noticed his presence, and rocketed at the golem once more; pushing it back enough for Bruce to take another swing. The old man sliced vertically at the construct with vigor, but it wasn’t done fighting yet. The golem slammed its terrifying fists into the floor, catching Nisovin on the foot.

“Ach!” the gnome cried in pain, jumping back out of reach of the monster. Bruce, again, attempted to distract the golem, ramming his sword into its back yet again, jumping out of the way as it attempted to fall down on him. Nisovin, getting over the pain in his small, gnomish foot, pulled a decent sized wand out of his robes. Its appearance was that similar to a rainbow, glowing with energy. “Knockback 50!” the gnome shouted in a combination of pain and glee, a ball of energy flying from the wand directly towards the golem. Even with its ridiculous size and weight, the mech went flying across the room, landing on its feet just before the opposite wall. “Really thought that would be more effective!” the gnome cried, quickly switching back to his gun.

“Good enough!” Bruce replied, charging at the golem without hesitation. The foe itself began to walk towards the hero, breaking into a sprint, the ground shaking under each of its steps. In moments, the two rivals met, Bruce blocking a swing of the golem’s hammering fists with his Excaliju.

“Zap! Zap! ZAP!” The gnome yelled continually, firing his gun multiple times at the iron golem in rapid succession. The golem stepped back a few feet, Bruce driving his sword yet again into the monstrous suit of armor, watching as sparks flew everywhere from its exposed internal parts. Nisovin rocketed towards the golem, his boots beginning to fail from being struck earlier. Landing, he pulled out his wand again. “Tinder flame!” the gnome yelled, a glowing ball of orange and red light flying out from the tip of his wand. The ball exploded upon contact with the mech, it being thrown vertically into the air. Its body of iron heated rapidly, appearing to melt a bit. “Bruce, now!” the gnome yelled at the top of his tiny lungs. The old man nodded his head without further thought, and began slicing and jabbing at the melting construct with fury, his golden sword passing through it like butter. Just like that, the iron menace powered down, bits and pieces falling to the floor with loud thunks. The two heroes collapsed onto their backs, sighing in relief.

“Something tells me this was a bad idea,” Nisovin muttered, dropping his wand of limited probabilities to the side in frustration.

I felt like sharing it with everyone; the original text was made with Dwarves vs. Zombies in mind, so it doesn't really fit with Wynn.
