SPOILER Everything We (think) We Know About Dern

So. Yeah. It seems about time I made another official Dern post. And please believe me when I say I have done my research (If I can even call it that).

(note the first one is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY outdated. The last edit was before Fruma was even heard of)

Anyway, I want to make it clear that I am trying not to make this a theory. This is meant to be a little database of what I could find and put together. Lets get on with it before I die from all the incorrect info about this subject!

• Dern is a "Dark Place Far Off" but technically a province, but "Should Still Be Considered A Province" according to Grian
• Dern is a place of Darkness.
• There are 2 items that reference Dern. Both are rare spears. Dern's Shadow and Dern's Desolation
• The Dernel Jungle has nothing to do with Dern
• Dern was found while miners were digging in the abandoned mines
• Dern Beasts and Dern Minions guard the Dark Egg on Dead/Alive Island, suggesting the Egg is of Dern Origin.
• Darkness is different from Corruption or Decay
• Although we commonly call things from Dern "Dernian" the correct word is "Dernic" (but u will probobly keep saying Dernian)

Now for little things I assume we can assume about Dern:

• The dark place we go to on Gateway Island is Dern. Because:

1. Its all black and purple and Dark and mystic
2. Mobs: Dissapearing Shadow, Peculiar One, Dark Skeletal Warrior, Otherworldly Inhabitant
3. Shadows are dark
4. DARK skeltal warrior. Not corrupted, not decayed. Dark
5. If Dern is a "dark land far off" perhaps it could be another realm/world/dimension
6. Which would explain the names of the Otherworldly inhabitants (whom also happen to be endermen)
7. You end up in the abandoned mines after leaving (what I believe to be) Dern.
8. We already established a dernian-abandoned mine connection
9. Dark slimed spawn near the portal

• The Abysso Galoshes from the Lost Souls quest are heavily implied to be from Dern

1. "Rumored to be crafted from a Dernic stone, these sinister boots radiate extremely powerful dark energy. They have absorbed the power of the raging seas in their time locked in Sarnfic."
2. "Ferndor probably told you about he boots, right? The diary has some information about them... Here our family bought them from "a dark and mysterious humanoid creature" a long time ago."

So yeah! Thats all I have for now!

The guy from the Fallen Star quest (crazy guy with meteor) looks like he's slowly going Ender(?). Like, his skin is black with an enderman eye.

I'm probably pointing out the obvious, but the Abysso Galoshes are heavily implied to have been made in Dern or by an entity from Dern. The lore on the boots states...

"Rumored to be crafted from a Dernic stone, these sinister boots radiate extremely powerful dark energy. They have absorbed the power of the raging seas in their time locked in Sarnfic."

To further back this up, in the quest "Lost Soles" Grandon says something interesting about these boots.

"Ferndor probably told you about he boots, right? The diary has some information about them... Here our family bought them from "a dark and mysterious humanoid creature" a long time ago."

The description Ferndor gives is characteristic of an enderman, the only sort of creature we know for certain is associated with Dern.

 

This... Actually makes sense, cause that whole City was sunk by Mage Island due to the boots just being there.

I remember a builder saying something about dern being behind Almuj, as behind the wall of the silver fish dungeon.

 

I am aware of that, but the builder said they were wrong. Even if they did not admit it, the facts would not add up

??? I am not aware of that one. All I know about that comes from screen shots from @Rujala

 

9/7 killed them, but @Mular5 did one of his data files on strange flying Wither Skulls spotted by someone, I believe it was Selvut, but I could be wrong, in the Lusuco area. It wasn't a mob, it had no health bar or anything. Mular gave it the name "Peculiar One".
