    It doesn't.

Safest mage build is lots of intelligence with some strength and defense. The stats themselves increase damage dealt, reduce damage taken and reduce spell cost, while the elements associated with them will boost heal, ice snake, and meteor twice (both fire and earth damage).

I'm aiming for max intel (because mage needs that for getting the best intel/water equipment), 60 defence (defence helps quite a bit for a tanky mage, though don't use too much fire equipment as fire and water elemental damage and defence don't mix very well) and 38 strength (I didn't want too much defence since I may not need to use too much, but the strength gives that extra damage boost. There also wouldn't be enough strength to negate all your spell-related mage stuff).

I don't think fire or earth wands are any good, water wands are best, and for gear you should get lots of:

    • Mana regen
    • Mana steal
    • Spell damage (raw)
    • Spell damage %
    • +Intelligence
    • +Defense
    • +Strength

Idk about fire wands being bad. I have actually come across two good ones. And Olux's Prized Wand is based on water but mainly on earth. I'm not saying water wands are bad though. The only wand type I haven't used or used much of are ones which are based on all elements and air wands. I'm currently trying to level up so I can test the power of a water wand, which has 80-100 water damage. The bad thing about it? That's all the damage it has.

For me, defense and agility is the best thing for mage. And intelligence of course. :3
I like to be fast (I'm a mage with +84% run speed)
I like to be tanky (I may not have the best amount of health, but for me 9k is enough, and with my healing spell it's hard to kill me ;3)

At the moment I use Heavenly Wisp, a water and air wand and I love it :3

The Mages main damge spells (Ice snake and Meteor) Does Earth and Water damage and some Fire damage.

So yea get some Water, Earth and Fire skills. And try to get alot of spell damage. Don't care about health that much. You have heal.

A few days ago I knew literally nothing about Gavel, and was going to go with the Rift Walker Mage, which is Hint Intelligence, and an equal amount of Agility, and the rest is Strength. Now that I know the about the element, and how they affect gameplay, I'm not so sure that I should do this. Right now the main skill I use for damage is teleport. Good damage, and low mana cost :3. Anyways, would Rift Walker still be a potentially good idea, or should I go for the Strength, Intelligence, Defense? Quote meh plz!

It may be shitty, but most mobs dont have a lot of health, and for the amount of mana meteor uses it is kind of a waste. I can just teleport 3 times to kill it, and save a bunch of mana. Doesnt really matter though cause my pants have Mana Steal +2/2s XD

Roughly 55% Intelligence, 25% Defense and 20% Strength.

Intelligence reduces spell cost and increases heal power and ice snake damage.
Defense reduces damage taken and increases meteor damage.
Strength increases all damage dealt and gives another separate increase to meteor.

My mage build is unlike any others in this thread. What I'm doing is giving my mage max intel, and everything else in dex and agi, with very few points in strength and defense to wear some pieces of armor like Kratke. I want to be fast, have high DPS, and be able to cast very strong spells.

EDIT: Mage also can't do any sort of air damage without an air wand, so being able to use wind wands negates that major weakness.

This is basically how my build is right now. I have like 2 strength (accidentally added) 28 dex, 20 Int and 4 Agil (building on right now) so far it is working pretty nicely, but I still think I will go with the Defense, Int, and Strength (Possibly Dex) Because I want that meteor bonus :3

I like to go Intelligence and Defense, with a little bit of Strength.

however the game keeps giving me really good armor that requires Agility...
