DISCALIMER: This is entirely my own opinion of this video. If you don't like what I think about it, then that's your choice, but don't be a huge asshole about it unless you want to be like that of your own volition.

After taking a look at Igbar's Gavel Update: Yay or Nay video, there are a few things that have been brought to my attention about what he said in the video.

"There is a corruption in Gavel. It's called the Decay."
While that may seem to feel like it, just know that the evil worm from Taproot was the cause of all this. Where did it come from? We don't know. The only clue we have is that it will play a major role in the Main Storyline because there is a much bigger war happening between the Light and the Darkness. This worm is probably the Darkness' secret weapon to kill the Light from the inside in order to win the war. That goes for the Light Beast that you have to fight in an upcoming update once the dungeon is ready.
Also to remember: the Darkness IS NOT corruption. The touch of Light and Darkness on our plane is corruption.

"It's the Elves that are racist like 'Oh yeah, Villagers, they're really corrupt. Yeah, those villagers, you don't want to mess with those Villagers, man.'"
I want you to be completely honest with me, Igbar. Have you even bothered looking into the Elves' philosophy? Their reason of thinking? Togak gave us a lot of insight into their philosophy. It's humble and they led a happy life because of it. Then he went on to say that the Forest started to decay and they didn't even know what's wrong with the Realm of Light. Sure they said that they think the Villager's greed is the cause of it, BUT Togak said that they may be wrong in their conclusion. (Which, in all honesty, is true since this is the Darkness we're talking about.) At the end of the quest, the Elves, in my honest opinion, don't have that harsh a view on Villager's because they want to spread the teachings of greedlessness in the hopes of having others become better people in their lives. It's not like they were forcing their religion onto other people. Just spreading the teachings and hope that that person takes these teachings and lead that life.

Now, what you said about the generic bosses being just a mob with a ton of health and only one spell, and I am sure @Ackro will agree with me on this because I made a suggestion to him about this, the Content Team are having trouble coming up with ideas for Mob AI and Spells. I suggested to him that they should ask us, the community, to give them ideas. But of course, let me ask you a rhetorical question: "Why do you think the Content Team is taking much longer to get the Main Storyline out? That Green Worm in the teaser video wasn't just for show, you know."

"That boss is the best boss in the entire game right now."
*huge inhale through the nose* While I do agree that @Energyxxer made Krolton great by doing a jumpscare cutscene and make it so that there is a secret way to defeating him, I don't think he used his other spells, making an almost "generic" boss. All I saw him doing was his Charge spell. I think he needs to be buffed in terms of increasing the chances that Krolton will do a different spell. Probably increase those spells way more and decrease the chances of getting a Charge spell by a lot.

"Why throw a boss at the end? It doesn't make any sense. It felt completely out of place. Very lazy."
Memory Paranoia does feel like you're watching some time-traveling horror movie, but that boss at the end was there for a reason. You see what Mr. Caritat has truly become and he has an important piece you need to get for the lone survivor since he was just a baby back then and he never knew what really happened. These bosses are basically just taunting you since you can't proceed until you get that important piece from them. They aren't gonna give it to you smack dab at the end, they're just "Oh, you need this important piece so badly to finish your quest? Take it from my cold, dead hands, motherfucker!"

    "It's insulting."
You've got quite the smart fucking mouth you have there. Since you're so eager for a better game, you should just go make your own Minecraft MMO. We'll see how that turns out in a few years.

So there's my opinion of a few things in that video. I just want to get it off my chest and be done with it.

Well, this pretty much sums up the loose ends in Igbar's video. I myself thought that he would know Grian said the decay and the corruption were entirely different. Seeing as I haven't played much of the new update (at least until I have my new laptop) I can't say any further of this matter, nor could I wrap my head around the reason why the corruption is different from the decay. That's just my own opinion though.

I just wanna say that one boss was in works for about as long as it take me to make one quest, and only a select few could make a boss like that because it requires skill that only 2 of the GMs have. I will agree that there are way too many thrown in boss' and I remember thinking that was a problem with quests when we were making Gavel. Most quests are just minidungeon -> Boss with some kind of story, which is why I tried to avoid alot of Boss when I could. I think we do have an issue with the lack of attention on greed, I don't get that feeling and we should probably work towards that when we start adding more quests to Gavel.

I honestly agree with igbar on the decay thing. It's lazy story writing, similar idea, executed and named differently, the idea of greed rarely shows up in my experience

Woah there cowboy, quite an opinion you got there! I'm glad someone watched my video and cared enough about what I said to make an entire thread about it! I realize I wasn't clear enough on what I was saying, so I apologize about that. If I may respond...

    Corruption Vs. Decay
This is probably where I wasn't clear enough at all. Yes, I understand the corruption in Wynn and the decay in gavel is not the same. It doesn't come from the same source, that is true. What I meant was that from a story-telling perspective, the concept of 'corruption' and 'decay' are virtually the same thing. Think of it like this, Deadpool and Spiderman may have different origin stories, but they're still considered "Super Heroes" right? Same idea: Different origins, still the same use of a story element.

    Greedy Villagers & Racist Elves
I thought I was clear enough on this but I'm not good at using words so that's my own fault. I meant from a gameplay perspective, the idea of "greed" is used very little in Gavel, or at least it isn't used as much as advertised. Yes, according to lore the elves have every right to be a bit racist against villagers and their greed, BUT have you, as a player, seen the villagers be greedy first hand? You may have one or two examples, but not really enough to define a whole RACE as "greedy". I just found it a bit silly that the elves go on and on about greed but the player doesn't really experience much of it.

    Best Boss in Game
I'm not really sure what you're arguing with me about? Krolton is the best boss in game by comparison to all other bosses. Sure he's still a bit generic, but that awesome introduction and the secret way to kill him puts him leagues ahead of everything else. Seriously, it may not be much, but just those little changes makes the player experience so much better, and that's what I was trying to get at.

    Memory Paranoia Boss
This has less to do with how much sense it makes and more for player experience. The whole theme of the quest is, "Reliving the past" and it's done beautifully up to that point. The quest has a nice pace to it, and suddenly it's interrupted by a boss battle? If you pay attention to the shape of the room and even the flavor text it just screams, "I ran out of ideas so here's a boss" The floor is all uneven and the room is really dark, aka, all the things a good boss room shouldn't be. The text even says something along the lines of, "Oh look it's Mr. Demon Summoner guy. Should probably kick his ass before I leave!" Again, it would make sense story wise to kill him, but it messes with the pacing of the quest. I'm sure there are many ways they could have done it instead. For instance, perhaps you find his dead body and relive one last memory? How the whole possession thing began maybe? Why he did it, the good he was trying to do that ended in disaster? Maybe even have him directly address the player and say he's sorry in an emotional speech! It's a huge missed opportunity that was simply passed up because of either time constraints or just running out of ideas. GMs are suppose to think outside the box to bring a unique player experience, so doing what seems natural at first may not be the best course of action.

    Bitch, I might.

What I'm saying here is that I only experienced his Charge. Either his chances of using his other jumpscare spells are low or I didn't give him the chance to. Either way, those spells need to be buffed by increasing their chances to happen and lower his charge spell chance.

You're not allowed to screw up your bbcode... Your a mod. DJ Khaled doesn't appreciate you.
Igbar has stated his opinions and so did you, but you are misinterpreting his meaning. He is critiquing Gavel. It has so much content, that all those negative sound like he hates it, but I know Igbar likes/loves Gavel from his last words. He stated he thinks it is an excellent update they was worth the wait. I don't know if you got that, but he's not coming close to saying he wants to make another MMO. He has been a moderator for a very long time, proving his dedication. I'd watch my mouth if I was you.

    Ya know...

This is getting slightly out of hand. Okay, this is going to be a full out flamewar really soon...

So, can we just stop this before it has to be closed?

    And, frankly...
That clearly isn't helping the situation one bit.

All right, seems like we had enough fun for today, now let's keep it down why don't we?

I'm closing the thread due to the OP's ability to throw Ad Hominems like candy on Halloween, and being unable to handle criticism. If you are gonna criticize someone else's opinion, try to keep it polite all right? ;D
