How Have Mages Been Buffed?

I remember many players mentioning with the new Gavel update mages would be buffed. But the more I play the more I feel that the mage class is even weaker than before. I cant even beat bosses because my attacks do barely any damage to them or any other mobs. Can someone explain to me how mages have been buffed?

 

Spells. End of story.

 

My spells do basically no damage :(. It takes like 10 meteors to take down ONE enemy

 

Get weapons that buff your attacks and make sure you don't have negative spell damage. It could also be your Skill Points are poorly distributed.

 

You need to find a better build for your character that's all, maybe try other gear and weapons etc too

I'm going all strenght and intell, don' t have any issues anymore.

 

My damage has doubled/tripled, heal spell actually does something. That's how

 

I have 70 int 64 Strength... I use the Legendary Olux's prized wand... Why... why is my damage output terrible?

 

Its not really buffed, life steal and natural health regen are nerfed so it made its heal spell more useful

 

I have no idea why you are having a problem then. I mean, Olux's prized wand is quite powerful. Unless every mob you are fighting now is a boss, mini-boss or one of those ogres you see in the swamp with high level, then I'd be surprised that it takes 10 hits... of course, this is assuming that you use meteor instead of normal attacks. Because normal attacks aren't very useful as a mage... unless you have lots of explosion percentage or rely on life or mana steal.

 

Could it be my Armour? Is the Olux swamp a good place to grind and get new Armour?

 

Depends. What level is your armour? And how much is your spell damage?

 

High 40's one is 55 my output is 60-120 for normal and 67-180 for meteor

 

For the spell damage, I mean the id not what the stats say, because the stats aren't working properly atm (I mean, compare your skill point elements and what your resistances are. Then look at your stats. They definitely do not add up). And I have found quite a few of my current armour pieces which I use right now just by doing all the quests and picking them up at different points. None of my items are below level 50. Though my weakest armour is actually 50 right now. Then I mainly have those around that level except for one level 62 item. Also, make sure you get daily rewards every day so you get lots of items and emeralds. I have found some interesting items from those. And finally, have you got any accessories? Because I have all of the accessory slots filled. Two from quests, the other two give various other smaller buffs.

 

i thought strength/earth subclass makes spells weaker than how it would normally

 

I got to agree it does not add up. But it might be a glitch, Gavel was a HUGE update. BTW know any good places to get level 55+ rare/legendary items? Im currently grinding in the pre-Light forest

 

I actually have mainly unique items. And I have found all of my current items in the Olux area. And if you are grinding in a level 65 area, then I can see why you are finding killing one enemy hard. You do after all have level 55 stuff at maximum.

 

Yeah. But the boss im having trouble with is the beneath the depths boss. And also, how do you get daily rewards?

 

Just use your compass and you will see a chest on the bottom in the middle. Click it and take every item you need out. If you don't do this around the same time every, a tier count of up to 5 will be reset to 1. If you get tier 5, then the stuff will probably be quite good. Especially since you get lots of items (I got like 11 today, though most were normal items). And it will probably be because of the arrow storm spell that you are having trouble I guess. I'm currently having trouble with this boss too. But I actually killed it, though the treasure fell into the lava. Here's a few things to defeat it (though I would recommend getting that better stuff! At least one thing with 1000+ health may be needed):
1. Get at least 6 potions of your level. Assuming you haven't reached 65, then I guess the potions you need would be the level 60 potions, which heal 1000 health. That's useful. (like a 1/3 of my health)
2. Use your surroundings to your advantage. In your case, the surroundings are going to be those pillars. When you hear the Wynncraft mob spell sound, duck behind a pillar until the arrow storm stops. Then blast it with meteors until it does this again. (the meteors you use should be increased thanks to not having to use the heal spell).
3. If you can, find an item with reflection. If I remember correctly, this works just like thorns except it works on ranged attacks. So basically, that arrow storm, if you don't duck behind a column in time, is going to damage the boss too.

I do such little damage though. Also are there any quests where i can get good Armour?

 

Iron heart part 2 gives decent armour. Just make sure that you don't take the bribe at the end though. In other words, when you talk to the scientist don't spam right click, just read carefully through what he says he wait. Then walk out and talk to the detective and complete the quest. That's the only quest armour around that level.
And I'm trying to get level 64 (almost there) so that I can get another better piece of armour just in case I get unlucky again.
