Ice Snake

Ice Snake is useless right now unless your enemy is really far away, because it doesn't cause slowness or freeze people anymore. Is this a bug? The spell is supposed to slow/freeze enemies, but it's useless now because Meteore has good range and does way more damage, and Ice Snake doesn't freeze.

 

I think it's still rather helpful, especially when you come across an Emerald Imp! Or anything that try's to run away in general. It's a longer ranged version of your normal attack that at later levels allows you to control where it goes!

 

I've only encounted one enemy in Gavel that runs away at my level (88) and Ice Snake does less damage than your normal attack. It used to be so helpful for bosses when it froze things.

 

You're telling me, I'm supposed to use this spell specifically for Emerald Imps, a level 1 mob, and the reason it doesn't slow down is because ice snake changes the enemy mov speed to a high number (forgot), that froze them but in 1.8 it doesn't.

It's also one of the quickest ways to kill to enemies weak to water damage.

 

Sorry, I was trying to point out at least one possible redeeming factor of the spell to show that it isn't entirely useless, that use being that it can still be used as a very long ranged attack (though admittedly, a very week one compared to other spells) that can be aimed once upgraded. I didn't intend for it to be taken as "you can only use it on these mobs and that's what makes it good" nor did I mean for it to sound like the only use of the spell.

I did read the opening post, I realized he said it wouldn't freeze mobs, and I never said it was good because it still freezes mobs. I was trying to point out that it still has use as a very long ranged attack that could be used to hit mobs from a longer distance than most spells that the Mage class has, though admittedly not a very good one compared to what it used to be or those of other class spells.

I am sorry to all three of you for voicing my own opinion and saying that the spell isn't entirely useless.I realize that it is not as good as it used to be, and didn't intend for it to sound as if I believed it was, I simply meant to show a possible redeeming factor for it.

 

I still use it but very rarely, for the purpose you just stated. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding ^-^

That said, this really does need to get fixed. Ice Snake's freeze really was its one redeeming quality (aside from aiming it, sorta), and its sorely missed by those of us who like battlefield control instead of the classic blasty-blast-blast-me-no-like-orcs.

Escape has become slightly less useful in that sense. Probably a bug. (Bomb arrow also doesn't slow enemies anymore, at least for me)

 

Archers Escape, Assassins Spin Attack and Mages Ice Snake are broken due to the fact that having an extremely high lvl of speed does not freeze mobs anymore, it just makes them superspeed.
