[important] Minecraft Servers, December 24th (wynncraft Downtime)

If its false, the millions of dollars companies would have to spend on protection against these attacks would all be wasted. If you had a cookie, and you heard from someone that they were going to try and take the cookie from you and eat it, and you did stuff to try and prevent it but in the end they weren't going to do anything anyway, it would be a waste. Upscale this by a million, and its Sony/Microsoft/Steam/Mojang's situation right now.

 

Please don't reply something like this unless you know your facts. Lizard Squad was never gone back on a threat. They have taken down Minecraft, PSN, PS4 and XBox 1 multiple times.

 

Lizard Squad isn't the one responsible for the threats. From what I've read so far, they've got nothing to do with it. Phantom Squad is taking credit for what is supposedly going to happen, but its meant to be SkidNP.

 

Skip the Blah Blah Blah and find the Lizard Squad part.

 

I'm with family on christmas, so luckily for me it won't affect me if it does happen ):

 

Nintendo will not be taken down! Nintendo 3DS and Wii U is not really the same form of hack-ability as other things like Xbox and PS4.

People like these hackers obviously have no life and are probably living in there mommy's basement. I also think they're just angry at Microsoft for being communists.

As for the Minecraft servers thing? Last time a major DDoS happened it was quickly resolved.

I also think this is just a scare tactic. Its the holidays, what better way to ruin them than by freaking people out?

 

Without the sources, all of this seems like a semi-valid thing, but hardly believeable.

With the sources, it seems a lot more believeable, however: This is the first time I've heard of this. As well as that, even if they are true and hack MC, Mojang not only will have people working on it, but are now backed by Microsoft, so I doubt it'll affect us for too long.

 

Wasn't trying to be rude, just these people think they're big shots, and also I know my facts... with all this stuff about hackers you're posting on this thread, I wouldn't believe they're actually going to pull it off. By the way, the first post was a joke XD you said it would happen tomorrow and on the article it says that they were going to take the networks down on Christmas Day ;)

 

By actually doing the attack. Its happened before.

Last year, Microsoft had issues from hackers using very similar attack methods to the ones allegedly being used. What the hackers taking credit for the hackers are saying is unfortunately very true, it is the fault of these big companies for not having prevention against attacks this simple.

 

Ofcourse we still have the finest squad :) they took out many "hacker groups", they even took out lizard squad , the whole lizard squad got arrested and got jail time... but lizard did this 1 year ago too XD fun part is that they got rekt by the finest squad and finest also gave tips for better protection to xbox , minecraft and psn.

 

Never, never, never challenge someone to break into your friends house. Let me make certain that you get my point. You don't own WynnCraft or it's hosting servers and you aren't responsible for their protection, yet you have challenged someone else to either break into those servers or vandalize access to them. That's about as smart as telling the school bully that your friend said that he wanted to get into a fight with him. Got it, now?

You should not volunteer your friend to pick a fight, OK? If you want to pick a fight with a hacker group, do it on your own, not by using someone else's site as your shield.

memes!, as long as it's your money, your server, and your website, make any bets that you want. Make any challenges that you want. Until it's your money and your work that's at stake, are you certain that you want to make any challenges against any group of hackers? Why don't you ask the opinion of any staff member or admin, please? Of course, the odds are against any hacker group having set up bots that look for their name, anywhere, after all, they don't know anything about bots at all, do they? Or, maybe, they could just type some search terms into google? Oh, and while you're at it, please do resort to reductio ad absurdum. Oops. Too late. You have already done that.

This discussion has occurred, before now. Ask @IgbarVonSquid™'s opinion on it. His arguments were cogent enough that I changed my mind. Leave hacker groups alone. Stay off of their radar, and stay out of their sight.

EDITED: Oh, and I'll add to this, that I've seen where notices of this supposed attack were echoed on other MC servers, and promptly taken down. The threads are gone, but some remain in google cache.

Honestly, I think the hacker groups have a really good point. PSN and Xbox Live servers are really vulnerable to hacking groups and the fact that a very simple attack took down their servers last year, it proves that these big companies don't give a shit about cyber-security. If a hacker group wanted, they could hack a lot of accounts and get things such as credit card details.
