Even though this doesn't show anything particularly new, on Salted's twitter this was posted:

"I think something's wrong with this helmet"
Looks like the texture pack is finished and looks good!

 

I don't see anything wrong with this hat.

1. RIP Armor skins
2. Armor skin toggle
3. That is an armor skin

OR hopefully they have made an amazing code in the way that the different died leather IDs makes a different texture? idk seems far-fetched but that'd be awesome

This picture looks convincing, BUT WAIT! If you look very closely, you can see the release date of Gavel, and the truth about Salted...

 

It's regular armor for the mobs.

 

That's literally impossible as the colors are a hard-coded thing and aren't based on metadata. However 1.9 would probably allow damaged armor to be used to replace armor skins although since each vanilla armor tier is in 2 files rather than 4 it'd require a lot of combinations.
