hey, after your first neutral run, you will hopefully know what a pacifist run and genocide run is and unless you kill flowey, you can do those no problem

 

But, uh... Shovel Knight and Undertale are two completely different games. How could Undertale do everything "better"? It's not a platformer...

 

But you could say that for Shovel Knight as well. So, yea. lol Just saying

I don't see how Undertale takes Shovel Knight's attacks and "amplifies it". They're two completely different genres...

 

Lemme point out a couple of flaws in these statements:

Plot: Shovel Knight was based on games like Megaman, Mario, etc.
What are these games? Platformers.

What's Undertale based on? The most obvious one is Earthbound.
What's Earthbound? A story based RPG.
No shit Undertale's gonna have a better story than Shovel Knight lmao. It's pointless to compare a factor that's almost obsolete in one game, but the core of another.


Music: Can agree, movin' on.

Graphics: Why do we give a shit about graphics nowadays smh

Characters: So how do you compare a platformer's set of characters to a story-based RPG's set of characters? They both serve different purposes.

Gameplay: Lemme ask you something, have you ever successfully mastered Plague Knight's set of movements? How is aiming a bar/talking to the opponent better than flying across the fucking screen, shooting everything in your way? Shovel Knight (but more Plague Knight) has far better gameplay than Undertale, while Undertale has generally better story and literally is a Role-Playing Game, since you're playing the role of Frisk, but as Shovel Knight, it's just a platformer. They're both practically incomparable because of how different they are.

Honestly, as I've stated before, I think Undertale's reaching heavy levels of overhype, maybe up to FNaF levels.

While I will agree with all your other statements, I have to completely disagree with your gameplay statement, While yes, it is awesome to fly across the screen bombing everything in Plague of shadows, thats it, jump bomb etc. In UNDERTALE you can fight, switch weapons (which in and of themselve are major plot points) or try to figure out the many different fun and unique ways to spare enemies, which as I stated, Is majorly glossed over in other games as just running away. Not to mention the defense moments that are changed often in Boss Battles, but never feel rushed or out of place.
EDIT: and while there are other aspects like the relics and in plaque knight's case research things, they all come back to the core basics of the fighting, in shovel knights case: shooting or massive shoveling like techniques, in plaque of shadows, its bombing (although there are the fun platformer bomb things) or bigger bombs.

 

I guess everyone has different tastes in gameplay aspects.

I generally find Shovel Knight's gameplay to be better because of speedrunning. That shit's amazing.
