Thanks for the reference! So something you have to think about is the constraints of the game. Is every NPC a villager? No. In Prison Story Ooid tells you to find an adventurer named Waront. Waront is represented by a Quest NPC villager. This means that you could be many things from a Villager fresh from Gavel to a Human. Also, you need to look over the Recruit quest again. It is implied that the caravan was full of other recruits like you. The reason YOU alone use your weapon is that all the other recruits ran ahead.

Anyways through my research on my 1st theory I've started to gather a sense of who the player is and may make second theory about his origins. However, that comes after I fully understand who the player is as a person, because we honestly don't know anything about his past. So hopefully I can trace that from the present.

Anyway, you are right, we do not know anything about the player's past. But now we might. Grian confirming more provinces is basically saying "Hey! The player is from another Province!" So perhaps in the future we will be able to go the the player's home province.

As for the NPC thing. IDK why, but all the NPC's are villagers. I thought this was since Wynn had both humans and villagers, the humans were the players and the Villagers were the NPCs and towns people. But now this could be false.

I just want to point out that if you can make a cow hostile, you can probably make a player-statue a quest giver...

The magic of yelling at the GM's logic. Everyone want to defend themselves when argued against. This argument was about the super basic fundamentals, so the only way he could defend was with saying what we thought to be super basic fundamentals are wrong.

I did not intend for that to happen, but I see how it did.

 

There was a suggestion a while ago about making other mobs/blocks quest npc's. One of the members of the content team explained that with the current plugin it is only possible to make villagers npc's. But if you look at gavel teaser <insertnumber> you see a tree being used as an npc, that means they changed/upgraded the plugin so maybe your theory will make more sense after the update.

 

Huh. I figured there was some plugin-side reason for that. But if they do actually do that, they should totally change the NPCs in the squid village to actual squids. Hey... Did you just say a tree?

 

The teaser was named "the wisest man in gavel", or at least something like that.

 

I could not find the teaser, but I did find that AbandonedBank made the quest. I only found a parody nut thing about it:

But anyway, its still cool to have things like that giving the quest. Perhaps we will get a province full of living blocks and stuff. Who knows?

I also want to point out the the community that Grian did contradict himself a little.

Now the wording of what he said could be taken different ways, but anyway. Here is what he said in a Q/A:

Q: "Will Dern be coming after Gavel comes out"

A: "Let's worry about one province at a time"

He does make it sound like Dern is a province (which he know stated is not the case), but I will assume for now he misspoke...

 

I love reading through the theory threads and the discussions in the comments. Really warms the heart, y'know? And also entertaining to read.

 

Corkus was the idea for a province that had hardly any detail. Some first comments on the thread talked about quests, etc.
However soon lots of people started supporting the idea (sarcastic or not) and he literally thought he was being supported by like 3+ moderators
He even put a form to help but he later said it was for his friends.
