Media Theory On Nesaak. Was It Always Snowy?

Hello Wynncraftians!


I usually don't post theories like this, but I recently attended one of Grian's streams
and found out that he loves to see the community's theories and enjoy's reading the
many different ideas that we have for many different things.

So without further adieu, let's get into it!


Nesaak! A place where it's always snowy!
But was it always snowy? I think not. Here's why:

Whenever you go into Nesaak the first thing you notice is the lake.
"Why is this important", you ask? Well the fact that there is a even a
lake in the first place means it had to be a reasonable temperature at
some point.


But I don't think global warming should be blamed for this
event. Climate change doesn't take place in a mere 100 years. Take a look at the boats. Nesaak's main food source
is fish. So these boats are most likely fishing boats. But once
the lake froze over it was replaced by the ice hole.


So why didn't they take back the boats when they realized using the
boats were useless? Because, my friend, this was no gradual change
in temperature. This change was caused by MAGIC!


I believe that an event similar to one in the movie, Frozen,
took place in Nesaak a long time ago. The event most likely
took place in Nesaak Village because the ice is most concentrated
at the lake, and waters off into the river.


I believe the Twain area was not affected by this event
because of their magical capabilities to ward off harmful magic.



So yeah, thanks for reading! I hope this theory wasn't too stupid.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that this is explicitly explained in a Wynn tales story about the house of twain posted by Grian to the forums (Before the wipe). Lemme see if i can find it real quick.

Edit: I cant find it but basically from what i remember, when the children of marius left their home for good, one of marius twain's adopted kids froze nessak.

Spoiler: The Noble House Of Twain

Gather round the hearth one and all, for I have another tale to tell. However, this tale is not about a single person, more about the history of a place. A dark place that perhaps was not before. This is the ancient and very noble house of Twain, and its place in the province of Wynn.

Before the unearthing of the hellish portal, the Wynn province was not without evil. Despite the vast empire that had spread across the land, there were those, particularly those with an affinity for power, that fell into disarray. Magic, as we all know, was a powerful ally to the early human empire and those who could wield it held great stead in their home place. However the limited strength of this magic could not quell the thirst that some individuals had for it, and turned to darker means to acquire more. These usurpers of the magical arts were outlawed by King Frederick III of Ragni once the death toll associated with the powers rose above that of the annual ravine jumping contest.

There were those, named spirit seekers, who were tasked to seek and destroy any dark powered individuals attempting to gain power. The spirit seeker is not a job that is acquired easily, moreover it was specifically a job name granted to the inhabitants of the house of Twain. Twain is the last name of a family, a family of immense magical and spiritual heritage that has inhabited the province of Wynn for as long as past records go. Throughout recent history children have been blessed with gifts of elemental magic, gifts of this nature are so rare that there have only been 4 recorded individuals to have housed such immense sorcery in recent records. Often when a gifted child is born to the world, they are feared, and often hidden, abandoned, or worse. However, Marius Twain, an immensely old wise warlock sought these children, and gave them shelter in his family manor, located in a secluded pocket of land where they could seek refuge. Marius taught them to control their powers and use them to fight the individuals that wielded dark magic, these were the original spirit seekers, Rickeo, Theorick, Dwendle and Mael. Though once feared, when their allegiance to the throne was proven, they became some what heros of the province, a magical police force that were not to be challenged. With Rickeo's manipulation of fire, Dwendle's control of air and Theorick's ability to govern ice, the largest threats to the integrity of the empire were apprehended and slain. Mael, however, did not possess the same type of powers as his siblings (though they are not blood related, the inhabitants of the house of Twain were always considered a family). Mael was able to communicate with the dead, or more specifically, the spirits that lingered to walk the earth. He was also able, to a certain degree, to produce black mystic wisps to damage his opponents. He was by far the most recluse member of the Twain family, and spent most of his time listening to the woes of the departed that have unfinished business in the realm. Many people considered Mael's brand of magic to be "dark" and wondered why he wasn't apprehended himself. "People fear the dead" was the reason Marius gave Mael for his obvious unpopularity among his siblings, "you are a reminder that we are all simply mortal, despite our gifts". Mael wondered if Marius really was mortal, he seemed to tell stories at least 200 years old, but alas, it was true. Marius died of old age and gave the children instructions to continue the house of Twains noble work.

Those who were able to wield the ancient dark arts were not able to be rid of entirely in the world, dark magic existed that allowed their spirits to remain bound to the earth and cause havoc. Mael was often left to deal with the angry spirits, for he was the only one able to handle their wroth. The physical elements that defeated them in life, were no match for them in death. The other siblings grew tiresome with Mael's reluctance to forever get rid of the spirits of the dead that remained, none more so than Theorick, who frequently reminded Mael that he would freeze his spirit out of him if he didn't take care of the monsters who they dealt with while they were alive. Mael however, had his own way, he sought to calm the spirits and send them ... "on". In his anger, Theorick couldn't stand to stay in the Twain manor any longer, and left to live in the nearest village, and formed it in his own image, frozen. Bitter in their old age, the siblings did not for fill Marius' wishes, they did not seek out gifted children, and they all split and went their separate ways, all except Mael, who remained in the manor to aid the spirits that sought him. However their anger did not last for long, for rumours of miners releasing more than mere dark sorcerers into the world had reached the ears of the aged spirit seekers, and immediately converged to greet the onslaught of monsters pouring out of the portal. There was held, the strongest battle on red soil. The four children of Twain, united in their old age to fight the hordes. However, although the monster numbers dwindled down, the spirit seekers were killed and it was seen as the biggest loss the empire has ever seen, for the four of them were stronger than any army. All dead, except for Mael, who was determined to teach at least one more worthy of his knowledge of the spiritual world.

So the house of Twain fell into decline. Mael, unable to look after himself in his old age spent the remainder of his time in a secret library learning arts to pass on to the one worthy, for when he had passed on his trade, Mael would no longer be needed. Unable to answer the calls of the undead, they began to converge and amass in the Twain manor, angry that Mael would not listen, they roam the house, aggressive to anyone they may encounter.

To the present day, the Manor remains full of unsatisfied spirits and Mael is nowhere to be found. It remains one of the few places that monsters from the portal will not go, but that does not mean it is by any means safe, rumours float around in the eternal winter village of Nesaak that there are still secrets to be discovered, as Mael had a lot to hide.

Proof that this was actually made by Grian and i didn't just type this up in my spare time.


But then again idk if this is canon or not so....

 

I can confirm that Nesaak has been snowy since at least 7 March 2013.

 

LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

 

Whoa, that actually makes sense. I always wondered what could have caused the giant freeze, seeing as boats where stranded out there on the ice. As well as this, a snow biome seems kind of out of place. Also, think about the "Frozen Golems" in Lusco. Golems, as we've seen in the teaser for "An Iron Heart" aren't meant to be this way, something must have happened to freeze them. Something I find suspicious though is the giant Ice Spikes coming from the Tower of Ascension, an area previously blocked off to us. Maybe the source of the freeze came from the legendary power contained within the ToA?

 

Fine I can confirm I weatherman of the wynn news, all powerful magical polar bear, took a big crap on nesaak and froze it forever on accident. @PillowPet
I am sorry D.: it was just one of those do or die things and I couldn't hold it back anymore so I just had to let it go.

 

"Corruption Spikes", as I call them, are found near extremely corrupted areas. So maybe those spikes are because of all of the corrupted mobs inside ToA.

actually a builder just wanted to fill the lake, and he ran out of ideas so he put boats there, godamn old builders!

 

Well if you really wan to think about it. No, Nesaak probably was not always snowy because of global climate change and other stuff happening over time. BOOM QUESTION ANSWERED!!11!!111!(dun take this seriously)

 

I really hate to be that guy, and please forgive me if you find that offensive.

The theory had a pretty big hole in it.

As you said, the reason in the theory was magic, but you can't really say magic, and think you are done with it. This explanation is actually being done in a lot of movies, like frozen. They never really explained some things, and avoided from explaining by saying it's magic.

So what you say is:
When this happened? Unknown
Why this happened? Magic
What happened? A magical event turned Nesaak to be snowy.

Now, I have a feeling I'm gonna get hated because of this reply, but at least I did give facts. A lot of other theories get hated with the "this theory sucks, it makes no sense" comments.

I just wanted to tell you, @PillowPet , that this theory wasn't really well made.

 

I thought we were supposed to let the community create some neat theories about things we never thought of. We are lazy, but the community surely is not! ;D

To be serious though, if you read the post you would understand that I believed it was magic because no way some villagers are stupid enough to leave their fishing boats out in the lake while the lake is slowly freezing. The lake had to have been frozen fast and they only way to do that is by magic.

 

Exactly.
I believe there is a character in the Lore of Bob named the Ice Zombie King, maybe he had something to do wi this "magic"?

 

I don't really care if it was something else before it became snow.
I've always been fond of Snowy Weather. Reminds me of Christmas.
So I'm glad its a snowy little Town.

Theorick froze it all.

 

Ima hit you with a theory of my own.

Nesaak was once a peaceful, warm place. It was a popular fishing location and housed many fishermen. The beautiful town was at one point even more popular than detlas, at one point housing over 100 citizens! But then, on one fateful xmas morning, THERE WAS A SIEGE ON NESAAK! It was not the undead, nor the angry rebels. IT WAS THE ANGRY CANADIANS! They all rushed the town and used their snow magic, bacon and maple syrup and caused an everlasting blizzard. Every day was guaranteed to have a minimum of 7 feet of snow, and had forced the remaining citizens to move away.

Years passed, and the weather calmed. Citizens moved back to Nesaak, and started anew. However, the land was not the same as it once was. Evil snowmen, wolves and undeads roamed the area, making adventuring there hazardous to unprepared travellers. Even with all the new conditions, The citizens of Nesaak did not give up. They built new homes, and gather new citizens, eventually leading to the Nesaak you know and love today.

Magic is the laziest answer

 

But it makes sense. Why are there boats there, frozen in the middle of icy water? Why is the field around the House of Twain, which is literally right next to Nesaak, not full of snow, with not much transistion?
