    Heyooooo

I'm going to start off by thanking everyone who commented on my last post about Nemracts docks, now we're going to change direction completely and talk about Quartz!

To start let me explain the "In real life" counterpart of Minecraft quartz. Here are some facts to keep in mind:
    1. Quartz is NOT that rare.
    2. Pure quartz is see through and colourless
    3. Minecraft quartz is based off milky quartz, which is a milky white and is the most abundant crystalline quartz. ( it has little value)
    4. Quartz is very common in sandstone
    5. In Europe it can be found in burial tombs
    6. The Irish word for quartz is grian cloch @Grian (this one's just for fun)
    7. Quartz is used for carving a lot
I know what you're thinking, "That's great Miles but... what does that have to do with Wynn... at all?? should this be moved to a different section?" And that's where you're wrong!

From the countless Gavel teasers and trailers we know that the villagers use a lot of quartz in their province heck, it's on their main gateway. They use it for buildings (as seen in the corner at some part of the Gavel Q&A) and carvings (Giant carvings of themselves, arrogant much?) and we know that there is a company in Wynn shipping some quartz over to Gavel called "Quartz Inc." We also know we see Quartz a few times throughout Wynn (Fighting Cluckles, Bob, Tower of Ascension, etc.) but where does it come from and why is Wynn shipping some to Gave if it's so common and inexpensive? Well here's my theory:

Gavel is having a crisis. Gavel has used so much quartz that they have literally ran out (good resource management King Burton). Now when the villagers come over to Wynn they were originally looking for a new quartz mines, but instead they found humans and monsters. In the Wynn Lore it states that the Humans and Villagers trade agreement was about emeralds and safety, but I believe there was a little bit more to their deal then shiny emeralds (which villagers CLEARLY already have, there in the Aldorei Valley's buildings!) But for the oh so precious quartz. Where would they find quartz in Wynn? Almuj, a city with a whole bunch of sandstone and behind it there's a mining camp that is clearly not Wynn Excavation! So we know where, what and when about quartz, now just who and why. Villagers need quartz because it is what gives them their magic and protects them from evil, they obviously know how to use underground stones well (*cough* Iron Heart *cough*) and they were so quick at mining (from centuries of it) that they cleared out Almuj's quartz supply in less than 10 years. Now for the final question, who? I believe in Gavel we will meet a force stronger than anything in Wynn.A being who controls light and magic itself AKA the hand from "Mysterious Ties". The villagers are great at negotiating, and they have negotiated with this being, they will spread the light and magic of their land, and fill their land with quartz to honor this being, in return the Villagers will be granted magic and light, so they can spread the knowledge of the being. How will this being react to humans coming into it's land? Who knows!

I'd like to thank the content team for using quartz in Gavel. It really gave me something to do today.
