I feel like this is a very seriously thought-through topic that Abandonedbank has spent many hours working with.

 

Now, this has annoyed me.

Abandonedbank, a well known veteran around here, posts quite a seemingly useless thread asking a question that could be a profile post or in the questions section, and also has 13 likes (at this time) and docile comments.

If a newbie posted this, said person would get hate comments and 'useless thread is useless' and such things like that, possibly a flame war being cooked up in the process.

Jesus, we have such a defining social heirarchy here.

 

If a noob posted this, you wouldn't say anything, if Bank here did, you would (are)

exactly right. But how often do you see a veteran make a useless thread? Almost never. I'm just pointing out the reactions he's getting compared to other useless threads. But posting nothing is different to posting something mean. As they say, "If you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all".

If a newbie posted this I would hope that some of the better of the community would promptly answer their question. Also, questions are generally an exception from the "this thread would be better as a profile post" as we have a whole section for question threads, of which this one will be moved to- thanks for bringing that up :)
