A Strange Encounter In Minecraft 1.9.

This thread is based on a real story.

I was exploring a snowy biome in Minecraft 1.9, it was dark out and I needed to find somewhere to sleep for the night. As I was exploring, I came across a strange structure.

"An igloo? Why is this here?" I said to myself. I was rather confused as I'd never seen one of these before. Looking inside, there was a Redstone Torch, Crafting Table and a Bed. Tired, I instantly fell into the empty bed. As I covered myself, it seemed warmer than a vacant bed should've been, but maybe that was just my imagination.

I barely slept well that night. I was kept awake by strange sounds and screams. They sounded both Human and Inhuman, and were backed by a gross slithering sound. When I woke up after that troublesome night, I started to look around for where the sound was coming from. After about 15 Minutes of searching around, I concluded the sound was coming from the greyer patch in the carpet. I pulled up the carpet and was shocked at what I found...

"A trapdoor? What's this doing here? Moreover, where does it go?" I said to myself. I decided to open it up and follow the ladder down.

The ladder chute was long and pitch black. I could only see some chiseled stone bricks lit at the bottom. As I reached the last few steps of the ladder, a fowl smell met my nose, and I turned around to find...

"A laboratory!?" I exclaimed. The captive Cleric and Zombie Cleric explained the screams I had heard that night, and the odd slithering I had heard seemed a lot louder now. The sign seemed to indicate that someone was experimenting with the effects of the zombie virus on Villagers, and it's way of reversal.

The desk contained a half-empty cauldron, a brewing stand with an empty bottle and a splash potion of weakness, and a Cactus. The brewing stand seemed rather warm, even though it's fuel has been spent. The splash potion of weakness confirmed my theory on what the previous owner of this basement was doing. There was a chest on the other side of the room, all it contained was a golden nugget and 3 rotten flesh:

Was this some remnants of the owner's trip to the nether? Had he fought Zombie Pigmen while collecting the blaze powder for his potions? Perhaps this was the remains of old test subjects that had broken free, the nugget being what was left of the owners money. These questions still trouble me to this day, and without proof I have no idea why those items where in there. I decided to talk to the Captured Cleric next, seeing if he had any information and if I could somehow free him. As I walked up to him though, the slithering sound seemed to be getting louder...

This shocked me. My theories where correct, there was some madman experimenting on Villagers and Zombies, the bars and bricks were old and rusted, and they seemed like they'd been used many times before. As he said this, the slithering I'd heard was so loud I could hear it behind me. Ignoring this, a began to respond, but before I could say a single word...

Silverfish began to burst out from the walls, the whole basement was falling apart! Those silverfish must have been eating away at the walls as it began to collapse. Fearing for my life, I jumped over the oncoming silverfish and hurried up the ladder, turning around briefly to see the Cleric staring at me. I watched the hope die in his eyes as his only saviour bolted up the ladder. I made it to the igloo's surface in just enough time to hear the entire basement collapse in on itself. I decided to get away from that igloo as soon as I could.

To this day, I've never seen such a structure on my travels. I don't know what was going on down there, and I may never want to find out.

 

Would be a nice touch if you switched to survival before you took the screenshots but other than that great job.

 

I wanted to, but I wanted it to be night time for effect, and then I'd have mobs coming and attacking me. If I had it set to Peaceful the Zombie Cleric would've despawned, and if I'd made myself invincible I'd have the mobs messing up the shots. I couldn't think of a way of making mobs totally ignore me while still looking like normal survival, so I figured I'd use creative and hope that it'd do for effect.

 

You forgot to mention this is the new structure in the latest snapshot :p

 

turn off mob spawning, its a gamerule.
Existing mobs will stay, but no new ones will spawn, unless its a spawner or spawn egg ect.

 

This story is as based on the truth as every herobrine story

I've been searching for that and even with the entire world customized to only be a snow biome, I can't find it xD
Well, now I know what it looks like.

I spent a while searching for a Snow Plains biome to find an Igloo, and I managed to find two (the first was a non-creepy one). It took a while /tp ing 1000 blocks to find the biome, but you should be able to find one if you're lucky when 'splorin'. The ironic thing is, most of the times when this will be useful, you'll already have a house.

 

Unless I'm mistaken, however, there is a golden apple that you could take for yourself instead of the zombie...

 

You're correct (I'm unsure why the chest I found didn't contain one), but then you'd be a terrible, terrible person. You gotta imagine you're that zombie, and that Golden Apple is the only thing that can save you. How would you feel if someone took your only cure?

 

It's been fixed. Now a Golden Apple will spawn in the chest every time you find an Igloo containing a ladder down.

It was rather hard to get him out when a swarm of Silverfish where trying to devour not only me, but the lab itself. If I'd tried to save him I'd of ended up being crushed along with the lab, though I still regret letting him die.

 

If you built this, plz make it into an adventure map.
