Then some fool mod comes on and takes 10 minutes to come up with something articulate to say, then warns me.

 

This rule was put in place so that shitposts/useless comments didn't take up ~60% of the forums.

To answer your question -
Armor skins only work on 1.8 or higher. If your armor skin isn't loading and you're on 1.8, there might be a problem with the server.
