I had bad experiences in game, as in players doing dumb things, hacking, and staff not giving a single fuck. I stopped playing after that(Those 3 hours I actually played).

 

I do not like mineplexs

 

Expect 96% of the forums to give it a 0/10.

 

I would give the server a 6/10.
Community:

• Mineplex has some good staff and some fun people there if you get into the right servers
• But if you don't you get hackers, Abusive staff, and just over all ***holes

Games:

• They may or may not have copied off of other servers but most of the games I play are good.
• Please tell me whats wrong because I have met anything bad with the games really...

Lobby:

• They have some great parkour, A fun soccer/football area, and they used to have a tree that was fun to try and climb to the top. Also the gadgets.
• But you have people that run around picking up others and throwing them off the cliff... Also its a hub.

Staff:

• I cant say anything because I haven't met any staff. Only thing is the player reports and when I did one they responded fast.

 

I'll say it again, most people on these forums don't like mineplex at all, trust me.

But seriously, I used to play on mineplex sometimes with my friends. I stopped because my friends are busy and the people there aren't exactly the nicest.

I could jump onto the bandwagon and say "I hate Mineplex! It sucks", but I'm not going to.

Mineplex was one of my first servers, and as time as gone on, it's not as great as it once was.

Since their change to treasure chests and such, Mineplex has seemed a bit...iffy. They've not especially been the same, what was once aiming to give people a fun time has turned into a "Buy this SuperCoolAwesomeMLGPRO Rank for $150 and get all this cool stuff! You're the best player ever if you get this!".

The People:
I must admit, there are few "good" people I've met, but the ones I have were super cool. Being the central hub of the great kingdom of Servers, you'll end up with quite a lot of new players ("Noobs"). This isn't especially a bad thing, I too was drawn in by the large glowing lights of Mineplex. The only problem I have is when those people don't venture out and become...well, annoying. They're the types of people you'll kill and they'll say "OMG U fukin n00b hacker imma report u nub!". Of course, there are the types of people you'll have an epic battle with and either one of you will say "GG" and mean it, because - as rare as they are - there are those types of people.

The only other thing I dislike is the Hackers. Hackers are to be expected on almost every server out there, they're like spiders. You can try your hardest, but eventually one will slip into a corner of your house. What with Mineplex being the one of biggest servers out there, you can expect a lot of Hackers to slip in too. As much as they have been working on their Anti-Cheat systems, you'll still find a few people running at Sanic speed, hitting you while they're searching a chest and being made of bedrock. What's even more annoying is that, if you lag or even by random chance, the Anti-Cheat system will still sometimes snipe you down.

The Games:
The games are the main heart of Mineplex, and I must admit, they have few great ones left. The game I've most enjoyed is Champions, for the sake of massive balancing (last time I checked, Assassin (Leather) could kill Brute (Diamond)) as well as the fun customisations. As I mentioned before, Mineplex has changed, and I feel as if some of their new releases are lazy and badly made. While they used to spend ages making a fun and enjoyable experience for players, they now throw together something in a day and say "F**k it, that'll keep them amused for a bit". With their lazy attitude to making good games, as well as getting burnt out on the ones I liked, this really killed Mineplex for me.

The Store:
The two ranks, Ultra and Hero used to be nothing more than an easy way into games and some fun cosmetics. Since they've released Legend, and changed Treasure Chests, they've felt more...money-grabbing. I'll start with something easy, Treasure chests. Treasure Chests used to require a Key to open, which could be bought for 1000 coins (The Store-Bought money) and Treasure Chests would be an uncommon loot from games. I have fond memories of their Halloween festival with flame pumpkins, spending ages in Draw my Thing searching for the Coined Crops, and grabbing as many coins as I could before someone else got them. I spent a lot of time trying to get coins, to by Keys to open Chests. I remember when I got the legendary block morph...those where the days. Anyway, Treasure Chest opening used to be a big thing, due to the rarity of coins and sheer fact you could get cool stuff from them. Since they updated them though, they've felt worse. They come in 3 Tiers instead of just 1, Old, Ancient and Mythical (I believe). The main thing that drew me to Mythical is that they could (supposedly) contain "Rank Upgrades" a rare item, which would automatically level up your rank (No - Ultra, Ultra - Hero etc.) which I really wanted (as I wasn't a big spender on MC Servers). I had over 50 Old Chests at the time, which should've warranted me a Mythical. I was kept away from Minecraft at the time of change, and I didn't get any. After asking on the forums, I eventually got my 50+ Old Chests and a few Ancient ones, but no Mythical. That was around the time I quit, it felt like the biggest kick to me, they knew I had those chests, yet they refused to give me the best one as it could also be bought in the store.

The Ranks system had always bothered me since they released "Legendary". Legendaries got access to their own private servers, announcements upon joining and a bunch of monthly coins. It felt like the biggest Money-Grab scam Mineplex had pulled to me, as the server didn't need a new expensive rank, it needed better games. It personally felt like Mineplex was running out of coins to shower in so brought it in for no reason.

I have since been playing on Hypixel, which I find is a much better server. Hypixel really puts effort into games and giving players fun times (Like Ye Olde Mineplex) as well has having a far better system of "Treasure Chests". Mystery Boxes do not have exclusive content per stars (1-5 Stars, Normal can open 1-3 Star VIP can open 4 Star, MVP can open 5 star), just higher chances of giving better loot depending on it's level; you could get everything from a 5 star in a 1 star box. Their ranks have been around for a long time and are often on big sales, as well as being useful. They've added exclusive content for each rank, such as Mystery Box opening abilities, Credit (Store Bought Currency) discounts, cosmetics and a fair amount of Monthly Credits (I believe the highest rank, MVP+ gets $10 Worth per month). The bigger and more popular games are often being updated with new and amazing content, as well as being unique and fairly balanced. While older games receive fewer updates, they're still fun nonetheless. Hypixel is also very much in favour of what players want and making sure they have fun (unlike Mineplex's money-harvesting attitude I've seen). As an example, Hypixel recently released Housing. A sort of Mini-Game where you can build whatever you want on a set plot. This could be a house, a parkour course or even a maze. It allows players to build and show off their work with friends using blocks gained through Mystery Boxes.

In a TL:DR Summary:
Hypixel > Mineplex. Mineplex will steal your wallet, then follow you home and loot your house. Hypixel will pick you up, let you stay at his place and - while charging for a little bit of rent - make you feel better and get you back on your feet.

Yeah, I'm giving it something. Since it IS a popular server with lots of effort put into it. Or more to the point, was put into it. Nowadays, the content staff sucks and is EXTREMELY lazy. "We need a new game. Oh, I know! How about we have our most active member solely make a game!" Are you kidding me? You guys are making ONE person develop a game (I'm taking about Evolution) and it isn't even creative! Evolution's existed forever on Mineplex, and you just threw in a slightly new system and called it a game? You lazy assholes. I waited literally several months for a new game or something, and what do I get? A crappy, unthoughtful bad game.

Now for the community. I'm going to start out by saying it's good and bad. The GOOD side of Mineplex is usually in player servers, since noobs don't know how to get in, and the noobs that do get in never talk, so it's nicer. The BAD side of Mineplex is pretty much everywhere else. Play champions? "1v1 me you scrub im better than you" Play UHC? Get a teammate that jumps into a pyramid and blows themselves up. (That's actually happened to me one -.-) Any other game really you get stuck with idiots. So while some people are good and are there for enjoyment, others... Mostly there to just be stupid.

Forgot about one thing: The halloween update. Woke up Saturday morning and checked the server, and it said it had the Halloween Update. Okay, cool. Can't wait to see the new halloween game! What do they do?
The same. Exact. Thing. As. Last. Year.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!? It's been one and a half months, and all you did was bring back in old features and call it an "update?" No Mineplex! They're very popular now, and should act MUCH more professional. And I thought that was the worst of it. Logged in and saw someone as the Titan rank. "Hm, a new staff rank?" I asked them about it, they said it was a new non-staff rank. What? Asked them how they got it, and they said the flaming pumpkins. Put everything together, and..

Basically, they took a feature in the game and made a 1/1000 chance for it to give a rank. They REALLY want people playing more.
Not only that, it's going to be in the store next month. For how much, $250? All you get is a fucking mount, morph and particle effect. Holy shit Mineplex you guys are a money-hungry lazy server. What's next, a $1000 rank that gives you permission to get attention from staff? Damn they suck.

Actually, after writing all this, I change it to a 1/10. The server sucks and is lazy with probably a good 1000+ staff members. Wynncraft gets SO much more done, so if you guys are complaining about Gavel being late, tell that to Mineplex's Clans. Clans has been in development the same amount of time BUT with worser plugins, a worse map, and everything worse basically.

So kudos to Mineplex for managing to be the worst popular server out there! (Btw, Hypixel has been getting more popularity recently, and they definitely deserve it more.)

 

So they brought in a new rank? Really? "Mr. Mineplex Mr. Mineplex!!! We're running out of liquid gold to dip our diamond studded Marshmallows from 1254 in!" "Hm, how about we introduce another rank, for more money, and don't change anything?" "Brilliant! What shall it be named?" "Hmmm, well, I've been watching attack on titan recently...Titan!"

Evolution was by far the laziest game they've made yet (I forgot to mention it in my post as I've not played it, only watched). They throw you onto a Champions map (Too lazy to actually BUILD something?) and you kill people to get a new SSM class. It's basically SSM, but you change class with kills. Well, it's not even basically that, that's all it is.

I feel like Mineplex has turned into the Sonic franchise, they've had a good start, great moments, bad moments, but now they're old. They're old, and lazily beating a dead horse to try and earn a bit of cash (Sonic Boom). Like the Sonic Franchise, a bullet should have been shot through it's head a long time ago.

Why is Mineplex a popular discussion on the Wynncraft Forums?

 

So much hate towards Mineplex. They didn't manage to become the most statistically popular server by "stealing" your wallet and being unoriginal. Just the same as Mineplex copies Hypixel sometimes, Hypixel does the same to Mineplex. It's only natural for two of the most popular servers to have similar ideas and "copy" ideas from one another. If Mineplex really wanted to copy Hypixel they would have implemented their own adventure maps and added a Quake minigame ages ago. I'm seeing quite a bit of Hypixel-Biased people posting negative things about Mineplex here. It's quite irritating. I, myself, play both Hypixel and Mineplex on a weekly basis. I've also played both for almost an equal amount of time. I've played Hypixel longer though. I didn't start playing Mineplex until about 1-2 months after playing Hypixel. Even with all of this coming into play, I still like Mineplex better. It is also quite evident that this is true for a decent amount of people, as Mineplex is more popular and gets more players than Hypixel. All of this hate towards Mineplex is really unnecessary. Both Hypixel and Mineplex are good servers. Additionally, Mineplex is simple like everyone says. They have kept it simple. Mineplex is way more user-friendly. I've tested this with a few of my friends who have never played either. 3/4 of them said that they like Mineplex better. They three who liked it better said it was easier to navigate. The one friend that liked Hypixel better said that it was because she really loved those adventure maps. She wasn't too fond of everything else.

Also, to clear things up. This new "Titan" rank is rumored to be an event-exclusive rank. There is no definite evidence of the Titan rank becoming a really expensive $250 rank in the shop. If they do put it in the shop, the max they will go is probably around $120 or less. I can't be sure about this though, just as all of you who are thinking that Mineplex is trying to get more money by adding a new rank can't define this as true or false. Don't go assuming things then using trivial matters as a viable source of proof. You people can't do that without being somewhat false.

Backing onto my previous statements, Hypixel has a higher amount of ranks that are available for purchase. There are a total of 4 non-staff ranks for purchase in Hypixel's shop, while there are 3 in Mineplex's shop. Let's compare the prices. The following comparisons are based on what is evident currently. Don't yell at me if Titan becomes a new donator rank.

Ultra = $30/VIP = $25
Hero = $60/VIP+ = $50
Legend = $80/MVP = $75
Titan = Event Exclusive/MVP+ = $150

See that? ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. Why the giant jump in price? Who's trying to "steal" your wallet now? Think about that. Most of the other ranks are a measly $5-$10 cheaper, which isn't a lot. Also, I can't believe people are still calling Mineplex unoriginal. Do you SEE the names of Hypixel's donator ranks? Like seriously. That isn't unoriginal compared to Mineplex's? Alright then. I'll buy it. Speaking of which, there is also the Treasure Chest system. On Hypixel you must donate to have a chance at receiving a certain tier of loot in the chests. Cool. But wait. On Mineplex ALL Treasure Chest loot is available to ALL ranks, including default. Also, the daily and instant bonuses to donating. I'm going to refer to credits and coins as a currency of sorts. When you donate on Hypixel, only MVP+ receives an intial bonus of currency. On Mineplex EVERY donator rank receives an intial bonus. The monthly bonuses of Mineplex are worth more than the monthly bonuses of Hypixel. For example, The highest donator rank on Hypixel(MVP+) receives a $20 worth of monthly currency, and the rank itself costs $150. Legend, which is the highest donator rank on Mineplex, receives a monthly currency bonus that is worth $30. Legend costs $80. Legend costs $70 less than MVP+, but receives a higher monthly worth of currency. Again, I ask you Hypixel-People. Who's trying to "steal" your wallet now? If anything, it sure as hell isn't Mineplex.

With all of this being said, Here are my final ratings on both servers:

Mineplex: 8/10
Hypixel: 5/10

Both are amazing. Both have a considerable about of flaws. Nothing is perfect. Deal with it.

One more thing. I do realize that I may receive some hate for this, but that's alright. Debating with what I have said will only further expose the Hypixel bias on this thread. I will only respond to coherent arguments. Also, to make it clear, my intention is only to express my opinion and what I have observed. Do not start a flame war because of this. I play it sometimes, games are okay but ranks are way over the top and community is horrible.

 

As someone who plays Mineplex quite a bit (mainly MineStrike but I do the events and new games too) I'd give it a 7.2/10
I don't see nearly as many bad eggs as I do good ones so I don't find the community as bad as other Wynncraftians do. I personally think their games are decently original, not as much as Wynncraft but significantly more then factions and skyblock from 'unique' severs. Builds are decent, again not as good as Wynncraft but better then most servers.

 

Just because you want to expose the Hypixel bias doesn't mean it will not expose your Mineplex bias as well, seeing as you just gotten bias on your opinion. You didn't even mention the corruption that is the staff on Mineplex. They don't allow teaming in Survival Games because that ruins the fun, yet they allow teaming in UHC with no regard to people's fun being ruined by said teaming when it's a Solo UHC? That's just bullshit right there.
